I have 8 runner x australian spotted duck eggs & 1 lonely pure Australian spotted egg in the bator now but I know that batam duck breeds (especially calls I know for sure) have a shorter incubation period than other ducks. Some people lockdown 4 days before hatch with regular ducks and some do 3 days. I think most bantams incubation period is 26-27 days instead of 28 but if the other 8 eggs have a australian spotted father, so will those also hatch sooner than 28 days? So my question is when should I lockdown? Please help!

Never heard of that. I've hatched calls, all of them obviously didn't hear that either. They hatched in 28 days Stop turning 3 days before hatch

Sorry I meant 26-27 days instead of 28 in larger breeds. But yes you can look it up on the call duck association website. The most common answer is 26 days but it varies of course,It's just a rule of thumb not concrete. But you know how ducklings are they will come when they darn well please!

I have silver bantam ducks on lockdown now, they started rocking at 21 days so after asking on here I locked down 22 days ..theve been on lock down for 3 days and have internally pipped yesterday around 9 pm (probally a bit before)... it is now 17 hours and no sign of external pip although I can hear faint tapping so they are trying!
I'm thinking I need to use a safety hole as time is getting on .... there is not much information out there on silver bantam ducks so I'm figuring they will be the same as call ducks and may need help???
I'm keeping all my fingers and toes crossed that someone out there is awake to advice please
