I have two chickens that have episodes where they run around in circles with thier head to the side and the beek is chattering. One of them I know what she got it from. She was attacked by a dog he bit her head and she then had blood coming from her ear. The other one did not show any of these sings before she was 2 or 3 months old. Don't know what happens to her. They are almost a year now. They are the lowest in the pecking order. They love to sit on me or just hang around me when free ranging. They let them selves be bullied around by all the other chickens smaller than them and as big as them.

Welcome!

Just off the top of my head, the second chicken could just be imitating the first who actually might have a neurological disorder

If you are at all concerned about them, I recommend posting on the Emergencies & Diseases Forum: https://www.backyardchickens.com/f/10/emergencies-diseases-injuries-and-cures

I hope you enjoy being a BYC member. There are lots of friendly and very helpful folks here so not only is it overflowing with useful information it is also a great place to make friends and have some fun. Unlike non chicken loving friends, family and colleagues, BYC’ers never tire of stories or pictures that feature our feathered and non feathered friends

Are your birds any particular breed? I ask because Silkies are especially prone to neurological problems due to a bump or peck to the head. Do you know of any good avian vets?

Sometimes there is swelling of the brain and a vet might treat with prednisone . Yours would benefit from being kept apart from other birds, since they draw unwanted attention.

I knew a chicken named Radio. He was definitely retarded. He walked sideways and was constantly attacked by the other chickens. He died peacefully in his sleep surrounded by all the other chickens who hated him immensely, including the Cock-A-Doodle-Dooing rooster who really wanted him dead. He will be missed. He also had fuzzy feet. #RIP
