I have two rocks in particular that I'm trying to identify. I believe one may be a "worry stone". It's flat and shiny on both sides almost polished. The other I believe may also be a worry stone but not flat...there is the slightest wear and the rock is shiny in those areas. The larger is heavy for it's size and is matte black with red/caramel colored stones embedded in it like candy.

Oh if it helps I have found several other artifacts like round stone game ball, spear head, hammer stones, etc.

Here are the photos:

Here is the black with white-ish bands:

Please don't move this to the hobby section!

I can try to help. I am a geologist; however, I know VERY little about archeology since that is not my field.

I can try to help with rocks...not so much on artifacts.

Great! If I could find out the type of rock I could do some research.

I'll get the photos. The black/red rock is pretty cool.

Okay, I updated with photos.

You can see both rocks are smooth to a shine in some spots.

I think Jasper was used to make worry stones so that would make sense.

So what do y'all think?

Opps! Forgot to add....they were found in South Central Texas, just east of Austin in Bastrop County.

Not red jasper in the first photo. The second one is niggling my brain right now, so I defer to Shelby for identification. She is the expert, I am simply a fan. The second one is pretty!

Shelby - the second one - rough jade?

We have a lot of Flint and Quarts (Rose) around here but the second one kinda looks like marble...

The first one is unusual looking....like someone's dog got into the Halloween candy!
