I wasnt sure where to put this so I posted it here. If you need to you can move it

Ok, my mom said I could get more chickies if I got rid of my roo. Last time I ordered from Cackle Hatchery. I ordered 5 hens and 2 out of 5 hens turned out to be roosters. I refuse to order from them again so does anyone know a reliable sorce to order chicks? I dont want another roo.

Your help is appreciated!

I have always had a real good experience with cackle hatchery but then again I make sure to order "pullet only". Ideal hatchery is another good option though. If you order "straight run" then you get a little over half being male.

I have ordered from Meyer hatchery for years and they have never made any mistakes on my orders.

i ordered from mypetchicken too and great chicks!! just recieved them today. they all survived, i only got 3 and this is my first time getting them. and the service is really good & fast! & the people that work there are amazingly nice. and they actually spend their time to talk to you properly. give them a try!

MPC (my pet chicken) was GREAT for us! We looked at the chicks from TSC I was shocked at the difference in the chicks! Ours definatly looked happier and healthier! I would order from them again!

Meyer hatchery is right down the road from me. I use them and they are excellent. MOST hatcheries guarantee up to 90% accuracy on sexing. So I would have called cackle and found out if they honored a policy like that and to tell them that you needed some replacement hens for their mistake.

Keep in mind with MPC the minimum is 3 if you're in a major city. I tried to order 3, but they wouldn't process my order until I added on at least 2 more. Im pretty close to Boston too, about 25-30 minutes. I originally wanted 3, ended up with 5, and I wished I had gotten 10!

I noticed that last night. I dont really live close to a major city unless you caunt Champeign IL a major city. In that case I would still have to order five which Im not sure my mom would let me do

Call around to your local feed stores. Many of them are carrying chicks right now. The selection isn't as good a if you ordered from a hatchery, but you wont pay shipping costs.
