I researched having birds shipped in from another country a while back and they have to be quarantined in a USDA quarantine facility for 30 days. The birds would be shipped directly there. You pay that shipping. During that time you have to pay for the birds boarding and vet fees. Which is expensive. Then when it's time to get them if you don't live close enough to the quarantine facility you have to pay to have them shipped again. Plus all their other fees and paperwork.

About halfway down are the quarantine fees. Chickens are $19.00 per day at 30 days in quarantine the total for quarantine alone is $570 per bird!
