Anyone know my cats breed?

I think if someone had a Norwegian Forest Cat they'd know it

They're not exactly swarming the country.

Everyone thinks their solid-grey DSH is a Russian Blue; a large longhair with a non-flat muzzle is a Maine Coon; a tailless cat is a Manx; anything pointed is a Siamese (or Himalayan if longer haired); etcetera.

99.9% of this "identify my shelter/stray cat's breed by looking at a pic of him" is TOTALLY IMAGINARY. That is not what "breed" means, plus which the things people commonly home in on (like color or fur length) are not usually the really-specific things about those breeds ANYhow, and most of the cats people are saying "gotta be a Russian Blue" or whatever other breed identification don't usually look much like the actual STRUCTURE of those breeds' cats, ANYhow.

It's a fine parlor game. Even funner is to make up a breed name for your cat, so he can be a rare one-and-only.

It has nothing to do with ACTUAL cat breeds though.

Enjoy your cat, whatever his parentage or origins

We had some new friends over the other day who fell in love with our DLH tabby and asked me "what" he was.

I had never really considered it before, so my querulous answer was..."Um...a humane society cat?"

Now wouldn't that be an excellent new cat breed? Anyone want to join my new breed club? (Note that in this club we don't actually *breed* our cats since they are all spayed and neutered.

Well, maybe. But... about 15 years ago, my brother and SIL adopted a total runt of the litter kitten from a no-kill rescue. IIRC, it was found on the side of the road. It was so small that they ended up using a salad bar container for a litter box, and even then they had to help him climb in. It grew into - you guessed it- a beautiful example of a Norwegian Forest Cat! But i do agree with you, the OP's cat is not. Probably a DLH.

Really is Cinnamon a girl????????? Most orange cats are male.

Its less common to have orange females, I have one. But its not unheard of by any means. I think its like 1 in 4 orange cats are female.

To show orange, I think I read that males only need one copy of the "orange" gene where as females need 2....I am by no means a gentetic expert but I think i had read that some where
