Someone gave this plant to me, I am thinking it is a viburnum or a red twig dogwood. It may be something else too, I don't know. It gets very small white flowers in clusters, I don't know what color the berries will be or even if they will ever get that big but here is a pic. Thank you for your help.

I think you are right a red twig dogwood. I just waded through the chicken poop, on my deck, to look at mine and it looks like a match. I think it will have white berries in the fall, but gotta admit that I have 6 twig dogwoods, and my memory may be faulty.

Are they edible?

I do not think they are edible. They are grown for their year round color. Flowers in the early summer, berries in the fall, and the bright red stems in the winter. There are also yellow twig dogwoods. Earlier this year I bought a flame twig, where the stem fades from red to yellow, and there are varigated varieties also.

I planted some Raspberry plants.....they um, kinda died, but they are TRYING to make a comeback this year and they look pretty similar to blackberries. Maybe that's what you have.

The leaves do not look like dogwood to me
