Anyone know what this is in candling? I left it in for now

Had a weird egg in this one, it’s a bit large. Laid by a True Blue Whiting, not sure what’s going on. There was another of hers in there that had two little black blobs inside but not really veins and development, so we took it out, but I’m really not sure what to make of this. We’re on day 17, first couple days I was messing up with temperature bc we didn’t have a good thermometer, and then there was a day or hopefully not more where humidity was lower than it should have been because I didn’t realize how quickly the water had evaporated, and our house-sitter may not have refilled it.

So they’ve had a rough start and are behind on development. I’m not sure what this means though, if anyone knows?

That egg is dead it either started to develop then quit or is just rotting because on day 17 the egg should be about 3/4 of the way full

Probably! Just learned what that was. I will remove the egg today.

Oh no! I’ll remove it. Do you think my other ones are dead? I know some of them weren’t that full, but some were part of the way there. Maybe they are just behind?

If you're on Day 17, they should be nearly full. A couple of times I've had one pipping on Day 18.

When you say the temperature was messed up, how bad? They can go up or down by a half degree, and that wouldn't cause a problem, but might change the hatch date a bit. The humidity can vary as it's just an average, provided it wasn't way too low or way too high for an entire day.
