Anyone know what this is? Raspberry?

This is growing all over the edge of our woods, and around the area the chicken coop is in. We just moved to this house in August, and it was just thick bramble. My DH used a brush hog to clear it all out, and now it is growing back and has blooms. Thorny and some branches are almost 5 feet tall. Almost looks like blackberry or raspberry, but the leaves look different from the ones I have had before. Is there another bush that resembles those?

It's a berry of some sort, but I'm not sure what kind either. Looks a lot like the wild blackberry that grew behind my apt. complex when I lived in TN.

Show side view of one of the canes. Raspberry has fine thorns that cover the cane. Black berry had longer thorns spread out along the length of the cane, while the cane it'self is smooth.
I will try to get a picture of the cane tomorrow but I am pretty sure the thorns are more spread out.

I would be thrilled with wild blackberry! There is a group of it growing right next to the chicken coop as well. In early August it was all dead thorn bushes, brown with a few scraggly leaves. Guess it just needed to be cut back. If it is blackberry, we are going to have TONS, because there are 20 bushes alone just along the west edge of our property and these bushes are all over at least 2 acres, along the edge of the woods.

Although the irony is that I bought and planted two blackberry bushes a week ago, when there were no blooms on these, thinking they were just ordinary thorn bushes. :barnie

Either raspberry or blackberry makes a nice resource and good chicken/people food. If it is out of the way, leave it there.

Be aware- wild blackberry/raspberry only grow on second year canes. There are some domesticated varieties that can grow on 1st and 2nd year canes. So, if those bushes grow back, you'll have to wait for the major harvest until next year.
