Anyone know what this is?

I thought the run was pretty secure but last night we had this visitor who got in somehow. Similar to a rat but very thick tail and chubby. Is it dangerous?

This? It looks like a very large rat... and yes, rats are dangerous to chickens. Rats will even chew/bite the heads off of chickens.

I hope so but I don't think so. The tail on this one appears hairless. Not bushy.

Rats... I agree. I'm sure there are a lot more around.

Looks like a wood rat or pack rat. I don't know that one would kill a chicken, but they can cause major problems and be really difficult to get rid of. Do not just let it slide, there will be many more.

I agree with Pirate Girl. Rats can quickly become unmanageable. Keep the food secured in metal cans, and set traps to keep their numbers down.
