anyone know what type of bird this was?

I went to my local feed store and they had this mini aviary with finches in it and on the bottom there were these little birds that looked like chicks except they had long thin beaks and were grey with short feathers. The size of a young chick and they were pretty round.

Any idea what type of birds these were? No one seemed to know at the store! Thanks for any ideas

If they looked like this, then they are button quail.

It does sound like button quail. I have a pair that lives in the bottom of my finch avairy. They all get along good.

They do sound to be quail... Did you ask other customers?? Or the people working there?? How could someone be selling birds when they dont even know what they are? Kind of seems wrong to me. I wouldnt buy any animal from somewhere they couldnt give me basic information about basic feeding and housing.​
