Heat they don't need. Fresh air they do.

Unless you have Seramas, Fayoumis or some other hot weather bird and live someplace very cold, chickens die from excessive heat and bad air, not from cold.

I agree about the predator proofing (hardware cloth and door latches).

I haven't had a criminal break into my home in the past few years, but I still lock up my house night and day though. It's just good sense.
