Anyone living off the land?

You can plant your vegatables right next to your house . This will provide better moisture for them. (Tomatoes , cabbage , broccoli ) For cucumbers, squash, and other melons don't forget to hill them up and plant your seeds in the hills. Space your plants and the hills about a 1- 1& half ft. apart. You should get u some potting soil to mix with your dirt and use your chickens dropping as fertilizer and work it into your dirt . Don't forget to water your plants every 2 or 3 days during dry spells. Water your plants early in the mornings or late afternoons for best results. Get u a hoe and keep the dirt loose around your plants so it doesn't get hard and packed , this helps your plants get more moisture and grow quicker & larger. You will need to put some kind of temporary fencing around tour plants to keep the chickens out. They love anything green u know. Best of luck to u !

@chicken-lady13-thank your for reposting my reply SEVERAL times. Is there a point to it since you never commented on it? Thanks for replying about the garden.

Solar panels last at least 20 years. And solar panels now cost about $1 per watt. So a 300-watt solar panel costs about $300 new.

Here is a guy in Utah who posts videos on YouTube about the cabin with solar power he built on 1 acre.

Watch the video "How to have a home with no house payments and no utility bills!" He does pay less than $100 a year in property tax, though.
Bullit-where have you read that they last around 20 years? Everything I have seen is like 5 years. If I could get an inexpensive one that will last that long then heck yeah I need one. Because during the summer here in desert our electric is super high thanks to needing 24hr AC. But if I could use the sun for my benefit I would be happy. I need one that would not be too much money and would I be able to move it once I get the funds to move to cooler climate?

Got to laugh ! Didn't know I did it. Got frazzled ! SORRY. I think the garden post was intended for someone else also. Maybe I'll get a hang of this. Please bare with me I'm new to this.
