I would like to stagger my hatching but don't have a seperate hatcher. Has anyone made one as I can't afford another incubator. Do you need all the same stuff you would with an incubator. Thanks!

At first I was usein an old 10 gallon aquarium. I had 60 watt light bulb for the heat and just a bowl of water in it. It worked fine for me.

I made my hatcher/incubator from 2 wooden drawers according to another poster in the BYC. You would probably need a thermostatically controlled light bulb. You can get a thermostat from Lowe's etc in hot water heater parts. It is a LOW temperature one that goes down to 90 I think. Or you can get a wafer and switch but would cost more plus shipping.
I used one of those shiny car windshield sun blocks for my insulation. Good Luck!

I like the aquarium one too! Think I'll do that next time!

Getting ready to try my hand at and inubator/hatcher myself I found a foam cooler like med. supplies are sometimes shipped in mostly just doing it because I want a project. I will keep it as my hatcher if I like the way it comes out otherwise it will probably find a new home.

yes i decided to make my own hatcher as i couldnt afford a seperate one after buying my bator.
building it was pretty easy - but keeping the temp stable was the hard part!
I ended up putting a reptile heating mat on the bottom and taking out the light bulb and that got my temp up to 99-100.

neat idea! I assume it worked well for you?

I have recently discovered styrofoam coolers from the Omaha Steak company. They are perfect for this purpose.

yes it worked great! and with two sides plexiglass - i got to see everything! It made great HatcherTV for 48 hours!

My hatcher is in the living room, I pull up my chair and thats pretty much my life for 48 hours. I have even caught myself taking my dinner and eating it in front of the HatcherTV. Good thing I dont have kids and have explain - "no eating in front of the t.v "....- but the HatcherTV is ok.!?
