Anyone Manage Leg Deformity Long-Term?

Oh, dear. I'm thinking Twiggy's got some serious problems brewing. Going to gave to get creative. Here's a current view of what is happening with her good leg. Might have to splint them both.

I will try several things over the next few weeks. She's going to HATE them, but I think intervention is needed before any further damage occurs.

Wow! Thats a wild pic. She looks happy, so thats amazing to see. That leg is wild though.
It is wild. She walks on the hock joint, so she's very lopsided. But she's doing pretty well. It's hard to tell if she's in pain or not, tbh. But she doesn't sit/lay down much. And she dust bathes. I just don't see her keeping that leg forever.

She looks confident in that pic. Talking away like the little dinosaur survivor chicken she is. 😁
I think if she’s preforming all normal chicken activities and not acting off, she’s probably all right. They are good at masking pain, but I think at least right now she sounds like she’s doing pretty good.

I agree about that. Assuming she still has feeling and circulation in that leg?
For the time being, if she was mine, I might be giving her a good natural anti inflammatory for the hock joint. To prevent arthritis type stuff from happening in that leg. She may no have it forever, but inflammation causes all kinds of joint stuff, and her funky hobble and inflamed hock joint probably aren’t helping. Just mixing some turmeric and black pepper into her feed will help I’m sure. As a preventative.

I have meloxicam for when swelling is bad, but turmeric is good stuff. I'll do that. Thanks!

It's def impressive. Don't know why I didn't think of it. I use it for my dog and my goats.
As a raw feeder, and a person who has a "holistic lifestyle" It's a staple for myself and my pets. :) Also, its strongest in golden paste form. You can find recipes for people on Google, but they usually have honey and stuff like that which isn't necessary for poultry. I have a good recipe for dogs if you want to make golden paste, I can link it for you.

That'd be amazing! I'm sure my dog-dogs would appreciate it, too!
