Anyone need some rain? Weve got way to much!

Geepers!!! It sure is raining. We have had 4 inches in 36 hrs. Last summer we were in an exceptional drought. My water table had fallen until I was worried we might have to put down another deep well.
I hate gray days but I need this rain to come. Just not all at once. Let it rain at night and then sunshine during the day.
Yes everything is terrible mucky. I do wear muck boots when i go out. I have wanted to let my young hens out ,well chicks really at 11 weeks old but I was waiting for the run to dry some for their first foray outside. Looks like it will be awhile.
Next week my hb and I are going to build a new fenced yard 12'x48' We will make it as preditor proof as is reasonable. They will love the new grassed area. It has an established grapevine that the hen can go under when it is hot.
The other established yard 12'x 17' will be grassed and await the new spring chicks from cyn. yeh hurry up Spring. Jean

Ya, had to chime in here. Our community was flooding on New Years Day and we are to expect more the next few days, The new Library flooded. A real loss, as well as the Jr. High where my daughter teachers. They closed the entire first floor and all the kids are smooshed into the upper levels. The High school lost one of it Gyms. For a small town, this hits hard. The schools barely have enough money to operate.

We live on a hill so we don't have flooding problems. the coastal towns here are also in trouble. Been such a weird year for weather. I am looking over my seed catalogs and dreaming of summer. There should be a smiley that has an umbrella and barn boots on. Hee hee.

Chickens were happy this am even with the rain. It is really warm here. they think it is summer. One of the girls when back in the chicken coop for her bathing suit and floaties. Chickens look really silly with floaties and swim noodles.

(j/k) called me and asked what is up with the wind. Said it blew his metal chairs against the railing of his balcony. Thank goodness it didn't blow one over the railing on onto someone's car!

The cloud cover keeps coming and going here. The wind has picked up again recently and it looks like it might start raining again soon.

On the bright side... my rooster's tail feathers were blowing straight up in the air making it so that I could see his cute little fuzzy butt.

for now susposed to move back in Sat. But the wind is up, and its getting colder. If the sun comes out, it take us a week to just dry out.

Don't send any my direction. Our big lake that supplies most of our water here and south past Atlanta is up 2 feet. Course, we are still about 10 or more feet below full pool due to the drought we've been in.

NEW RECIPE FOR HOME-MADE CHICKEN SOUP:

Ingredients:
12 chickens
8 small cups of scratch grains
1 gallon layer crumble
4 days of rain
1/2 bale hay, for garnish

Method:
Combine first three ingredients and shake well until processed. Add fourth ingredient in constant stream until combined in soupy mass. When mixture is sufficiently mixed, garnish with hay to coat thoroughly.

Delicious! Smells great! All the neighbors will want some!

I believe we are going to have to get our chickens a house boat! everyone on my runs and coops are flooded right now. we spent the better part of the evening digging ditches so the water could run out of them. we live at the bottom of a mountain and there is an old coal mines directly behind my house on the hill then a few years ago some loggers came and logged the mountain our yard and stuff has not been the same since. I just hope with all the rain that the old mines does not bust loose if it does we are gonners for sure!!!

Yuck!, Well I went in the DR. office at 3.30 this pm with sun. I came out to a blizzard. the snow was over an inch deep on the car , the wind roaring and snow by the bushels. I had 12 miles to drive home in the dark in it. I could barely see. Whew, I am so glad to be home. Jean
