I am resisiting reading any more of the tracts. The Halloween one upset me enough so I am going to stop there so I can enjoy the rest of my weekend in my little, blissfully ignorant, corner of the world.

In addition to being mentally ill, the man possesses no sense of humor.

He demanded this be taken down:

Fortunately, others managed to preserve this work in all it's satirical glory, and I need say only this to Mr. Chick. If you can't take it, don't dish it.

Surely people don't see anything "spiritual" or "loving" or "uplifting" in these message...even if you are a Christian?

When I was a waitress, I hated the Sunday morning shift because of the sheer number of people who would leave me this tracts instead of a tip. I could tolerate the ones who left me the tract in addition to the tip, but the ones that stiffed me for these incurred my annoyance and are a large part of the reason I would rather play a kazoo on a street corner for a living than waitress again.

While at a restaurant, my husband and I observed two rather attractive young women sitting very close to us. Like my husband, they prayed before their meal so I knew that they were religious. One of the women caught my attention because she complained and was snotty to the poor waiter. She just didn't seem happy with anything. Even her expression was nasty. When they left, I noticed that she left a tract instead of a tip. The waiter rolled his eyes when he picked up the tract.

I felt bad for him. No, I have no idea what that young woman's problem was but she certainly wasn't a very good witness to her religion.

Of course, I don't think that she is a good representative of her entire faith but I have seen enough religious people show contempt for nonbelievers to know that she isn't unusual either.

IMHO there is a wide divide between salvation and religion. I know what I believe, and why I believe it. Ask me Point blank what I believe and I can tell you, but to me a person is a person , do you like them? are they a friend? Judge them on that, not what they say they believe, most people say they believe one thing, but do they live what they believe. I would Never ask a friend what their religious belief was, If they are my friend I love them if they are green and believe we walk upside down. marrie

You have to wonder, if they believe, & then try to get you to believe by leaving a "Chick" tract...just what exactly are their motivations? With that said, some of the happier people I've met, within the Christian religion are the ones that DON'T proselytize...

As you can see from my sig line, I am agnostic...I could go either way...I know there's gotta be a creator...now as to whether or not he intended us to "hear" him at such an early time in our written & logical history is up for emense debate...

Me, I know that I am Alpha male to a large husky, & rooster now to three hens, & a roo...& leader of a small family...Just like said by the Nav'i in Avatar, we're all on borrowed energy, & someday, we'll hafta give it back...all that matter is what you do with that borrowed energy...

You can laugh at me for this, it's okay, but I believe that a "coincidence control center" resides smack-dab in the middle of the Milky Way Galaxy. I don't know where or how I learned it, but I believe it like I discovered it on my own.

Deb, the problem with this is that most of the time, the religious people showing contempt for the nonbelievers have no idea that the 'nonbelievers' really are. They just make their own assumptions (and we all know about the word assume) and act on it. It might be based on your appearance or your clothing or your name or your place of birth. These religious people show us all what true bigotism really is. And what a testimony to their own religion and teachings that this is how they interpret them.

I believe with the way the churches are running themselves you are going to find that this post is not off the mark or unusual at all. I don't think being religious in a certain way makes you closer to God at all. I think with all of the religions in this world and all the different people we would be dense to believe God or our Creator would choose one group over another.

I was raised in the nazarene and baptist faith.. married a Catholic, became a Catholic and now rethinking that one. I think a church who takes a blind side to what went on with the those priests (can't be good). That goes to show that it isn't the religion who makes a person your own faith, morals, and principles that mold you into a person who can make God proud. I really don't think all the prayers in the world can make God proud of the heads of the Catholic church right now. For that matter.. when I was a teen, our Baptist minister ran away with another woman.. then came back and cried a lot and is probably still preaching now.

So your post is not inappropriate In fact it is right on the mark... just I don't know why it is on a Barnyard message board.
