Yeah, I hear what you are saying. It's just a very fine line between talking about what you believe and why you believe it and implying that others are wrong for believing it. That is just where I did not want to stay.

Talking about why Christianity doesn't work for you is perfectly acceptable; talking about why you don't like Christians is not.

I am not saying that anyone did that; I just think Ann was worried that this thread might stray that way.

Thank you for explaining that Redux. I was afraid we had offended you deeply and I wouldn't want that! If I, personally, ever say anything that offends you please shoot me a PM and let me know. It's your thread and I would hate to offend you. I do tend to speak my mind a little too much (especially when I'm tired) so I apologize if I did that on your thread!

No one has offended me; in fact, this thread has thrilled me. It has taken on a life of its own way beyond my initial involvement; and for that I am deeply grateful. The contributions have all been interesting, intelligently stated, and respectful. I am eternally grateful to Terrielacy for allowing me to start it in the first place; and I am appreciate the sensitivity of all the posters here. Everyone seems to instinctively understand the need I was attempting to fill with this thread.

Thank you all, again.

To the religious folks reading this, please accept my apologies for anything that has offended your sensibilities; and my thanks for not attempting to break up our party.

I do too.

I believe there is a God of some kind; I just don't subscribe to the tenets of any organized religion.

This is great! Something for the rest of us. I'm in Utah, grew up in "The Church" until I learned to think on my own at about 14. To exclusive for us. Our family follows the seasonal cycles, so I think we are pretty much pagan. So yes new life, chicks, this spring. A good way to scare our neighbors away from bothering them is to tell them we are pagan.

So, it is not not-religious, it is not a part of an organized religion. We joke we are SDR's Seventh Day Recreationist. Our primary tenets are to not organize and actually spend time with our family on Sunday's, camping, hiking, skiing, traveling or building a chicken coop.

While I was out finishing planting in my beds and trying figure out where to put the fig tree I had time to think.... And this thread came up for me to think about

Anyway, one of the most interesting things for me, call it a paradox, oxymoron, fallacy of non sequitor, whatever....

Is that if bad times fall on a religious person/s/family their faith is being tested, but let the same bad things happen to a non religious person/s/family it must be punishment for non belief.

Has anyone else come across this idea?

So count me in for being a SDR!! Sundays are hubby's only day off anyway right now and with the plant needing some major fixes before Monday, he's working Easter as well. My friends think it's sacrilegious but I remind them that their hubby's and son's JOBS depend on him getting this plant running properly. Else the place will be shut down.
