Ha ha! That reminds me of a good friend I had who was a journalist. The editor of his paper always drummed into his reporters 'if your mother tells you she loves you back check it!"

I have to agree with you, though, that all these wonderful "christian" stories, especially being spouted with great authority from teenagers with no life experience, can be very irritating. I feel judged as bad if I'm not a christian and any good I've done anywhere along the line doesn't count. The sad thing is that often I'm not asked if I'm a christian, it's taken for granted I'm not.

There is an infamous story on the internet now that rears its ugly head every few months on the Christian forums about a professor who does not believe in god and how a fine godloving student, and of course a miracle, shows him up. If it was told as a parable it would be fine, but it is touted as true even though it has been proven over and over to be false. No such professor, no such school, no such event. I love a good parable as much as the next person. Ands I love stories which show us there is more to this world than we understand, I just don't always attribute it to god. But, I thought lying was against the rules? And I despise liars. So people who feel they have to lie to prove the existence of their god? Pitiful.

Speaking of "stories"..... I have always been amused by many stories that have been around far longer than Christianity, yet those stories have been taken, changed to suit their purposes, then claimed as "The Truth." Same with the numerous holidays....Christmas versus Yule and Easter vs Ostara/Eostre come to mind, as well as Noah's Ark versus The Epic of Gilgamesh. I'm also amazed at how so many people believe it, even though history definitely disputes it. I just don't understand how some people blindly follow whatever they are told. I'm glad that I can think for myself and don't go blindly along bleating with the herd.

I have WHAT in my yard? :

I have heard that story many times. Most of the time, you find out at the end of the story that Einsten is the student. He wasn't, of course. The story is simply that, a story. Snopes has an article disproving the story.

The chick tracks are crazy. They would be funny if some people didn't take them seriously.

Jack Chick is man who uses cartoon tracts to reach people for Christ. That, in itself, wouldn't be too bad. After all, if you find one of these tracts, you can throw them away if you wish. I actually found a couple on the back of a public toilet. I tossed them in the trash.

Most Christians actually find him distasteful because he is at an extreme, so he isn't a good representation of Christians.

The problem is that he makes some weird claims. For instance, he completely misrepresents the Catholic faith

Some people in the south like to give out these tracts during trick or treat. Imagine your child getting one of these melodramatic cartoons.
