Howdy all,
Well, I am trying again. This time I took a couple hours to disassemble the Roll-X and wash/disinfect every corner of it. Then, I ran it for 2 days to get the temp adjusted to 99.5. Yesterday I put about 50 or so eggs in ( a mixture of local and internet eggs). Many thanks to okiehen for her beautiful blue andulasian eggs. Anyhoo, I dry incubated last time but the humidity ran in the upper 20's only which resulted in stuck chicks and a 40% hatch. I think the constant fan dries it out too much. So, this time I am using the water resevoir starting when the humidity drops below 30% and we will see how that goes. Wish me luck!

I started a hatch Friday, so wishing you luck!! I find dry incubation doesn't work for our area. I always monitor the humidity levels and have clean hatches.

I started my first one ever yesterday too!

I'm hatching 14 EE eggs in a homemade incubator.. I hope all goes well!

Hey, can anyone tell me the best or most proper way to position the eggs, and to turn them??

I started a batch in my homemade incubator Friday (I hatched a batch last year in the incubator and a friend also did, so I know it works).

Egg should be positioned large end up, but at an angle. Some people use an egg carton and "turn" by propping up alternating ends. That's basically the effect you want, though mine are much closer to 45 degrees.

Some people mark the eggs with a wax pencil so that they know which have been turned. I point them all in one direction and then switch them during the turn so that I know all have been turned because they're all once again pointing in the same direction.

I satrted a small batch late last night. Eight serama eggs keeping my fingers crossed. Wish everyone luck! jeff
