Anyone order from Ideal Hatchery?

How are the chicks, healthy? I'm getting an order in next week some time. I've never ordered from Ideal (Meyer hatchery in Ohio is our personal favorite), but it's getting late in the season and many hatcheries seem to be sold out.

That's true. I think everyone wants chickens. I hatched all male Ameraucanas this year, so I wanted some ladies to balance or they will be unhappy boys.

Service at Ideal is fine, a bit rushed and not too friendly...when you can actually get a person and not the machine.
Very knowledgable staff though and they still have quite a bit of inventory still hatching out.
My order came in on the 16th. I ordered 12 birds...got 7 extra males for warmth and safety in travel (which was necessary as it is cold at night here) EVERY bird was beautiful, healthy and full of spunk!
I will order from them again.

I recently ordered from them, I got Chanteclers. They sent 8 dominique roosters as well. I received very healthy chicks that are now 8wks. I didn't lose one. the dominiques are mean little boogers though. I am very pleased with the health of the chicks but when I called the girl was not very helpful either. I got answers like, I'm not sure, maybe or I don't know when asking about Chanteclers. Other than that, I would recommend them.

I ordered this year and had delivery in June...my MIL got 10 black australorp pullets (only one was a rooster) and two speckled sussex pullets. I ordered three golden laced cochin pullets (one was a roo) and three sumatra pullets. Expected to cull those but was pleasantly surprised at their overall quality. One of the cochins has a pointy tail, so I'm selling her...and one of the Sumatra pullets turned out to be a La Fleche rooster!

The other one just a rooster with golden feathers on its back--so that one is going too....Other than that--I was pretty pleased (pleasantly so for a hatchery order, which I hate to do but I have a heck of a time selling extras, normally)...I had no trouble selling the la fleche (for $5 on Craiglist) and the hen I sold right away for $10

im ordering from them today i ordered from them before and i loved the politeness and they were very helpful just dont take the rest of the blue standard cochin pullets for the 7th lol ill have to hunt you down

My Ideal order actually ships on the 30th, I found out on Monday morning when they emailed me. So...If I found out that my guy isn't wild about having 8 white Japanese bantams, is their customer service so bad that I'd have trouble getting some of them swapped out?

I'm glad to hear that they have healthy chicks. I saw some negative reviews on Dave's Garden that had me a bit taken aback. As usual, that was *after* placing my order. lol

But I do tend to take internet reviews on sites like that with a grain of salt.
