Anyone order from Ideal Hatchery?

I promise they are safe from me. *puffs up neck feathers and holds out wings while guarding her EE pullets, Japanese Bantams, and Naked Necks, but trying to decide what else to add before next week*

*Thinks: Bantam EEs?*

I ordered the surprise pullet special in June and got a nice variety, ordered 11 birds and got 7 different breeds. I just got a second order from them last week, Barnevelders, Welsummers and silkies.. all breeds that most other hatcheries were sold out of I ordered 15, they sent no extras for warmth, but there was a $7 charge for a small box.. so you may want to factor that in. I'm not sure you can spend just $25 and order chicks from anyone. you can order $25 worth of chick minimum from them, but there are extra fees associated.

all of my chicks from Ideal have been healthy and beautiful!

Regina in customer service has been especially helpful.

if you have to keep your cost under $25 total, try finding someone to split an order with you.

I've also been very pleased with both of my Ideal orders. When I received 15(!!!) extra Barred Rock roos for warmth, I took most of them to my local feedstore and they took them. I asked later and they said a local lady took the whole box. I'm not sure what she's doing with all those roos...probably soup...but that's basically what a million extra roos are good for.

I'm not too far from you, did you get them in 1 or 2 days? My order ships tomorrow, first time ordering from them.

It took one day, I think. I had to wait three weeks to get mine. Sorry about the long quote still figuring BYC out. Anyway, do you want to buy some dominiques? or two, or three or ....?haha!

just went thru a rooster ordeal (that's a whole other story) needless to say I have plenty of the little buggers.

I'm just excited about my order. They said either Thursday or Friday. I'm close to Minerva and let my little post office know they were coming.

I was wondering about this company too. Their website didn't look very professional and it said you can not tour their facility, not that I want to, but it sent up a red flag.

I would be afriad if they let people tour their facility. You wouldnt want bio contaminated chicks would you?

I have ordered from Ideal for years, at least one batch a year. I think four, maybe five, batches this year. rarely do I lose anything from Ideal. One batch was mishandled at the post office and I lost half a box but Ideal refunded every little loss. On the mis-sexed chicks I have recieved one RIW roo with 10 pullets and 1 Ameraucana roo out of...ummm probably 400 over the last two years.

The last order I recieved was last week of 25 RIR for a customer and 8 more Polish for me(cause if Im placing an order anyway). They sent several extra RIR and they all looked marvelous as usual.

Got a phone call from Ideal today to confirm shipping. They didn't send all the chicks I had asked for, that were on my invoice. Wasn't real thrilled about that. I figured they would have asked if I wanted substitutes but they didn't, they are going to adjust my invoice. Which is ok too. I asked if they added any packing peanuts and they said no, so instead of 25 I'll be receiving 19. No extras I guess.... will let you all know when they get here.
