Anyone order from Ideal Hatchery?

Guilty... read these posts and knew I had to bring it up again. I ordered and then changed my order at least three times myself.

I was so relieved to see that I am by far not the only one.

The people have been so helpful. I figured by the third call to change my order they would block my calls or something lol but no problems at all!

I am looking forward to my order Feb. 3!

Yeah, their customer service is horrible. I've only ordered once which I did last week. I've been buying chicks from hatcheries for about 10 years now, and I've ordered from a lot of hatcheries so I know how customer service varies... but the lady I've dealt with was bad. Not a good first impression when I already do not think highly of them. However I could not pass up their duck special.... I would never buy chickens from them as there are too many hatcheries around me within driving distance. However most want an arm and a leg for ducks.

I've dealt with only two south western Hatcheries... Privett (BIRDS were great) and Ideal and both were lousy. They need to improve in that department for sure, because I don't think how much they realize their conversation on the phone with somebody actually effects their business. First off they have no clue about the potential of a customer from one to another. For instance I buy a few thousand chicks a year.... for me customer service goes a long way. I don't want to feel like just another customer... but that goes with someone that orders only 5 chicks... they don't want to feel like that either. Every transaction counts big or small... and by not knowing who your talking to on the phone... you should treat every customer as if they are going to make or break your business. It's good customer service... some companies are better than others... some are horrible. But that's the nature of the business.

I'm sure there stock is good, but for some it's not just about the stock... it's the customer service.

I've ordered from Ideal several times now and have been VERY happy with them. Never had a sick bird and all have arrived in either one day or two with no problems. I am ordering from McMurray this time only because it's closer so I hope I have the same experience with them.

I've ordered a few times now over the past couple years from Ideal. NEVER had an issue with customer service...in fact, every time I have called and placed an order they have been wonderful. Just last week I placed my first online order and commented that if they couldn't ship it on the 3rd, then to please call me. Sure enough the next morning this lady from customer service called and was great. The Rocks were sold out so she offered some other ideas. And then I finally asked to call her back as I wanted to look over their site some more. She gave me her direct extention and I called her back no problem. She was very helpful and very friendly. And because of her help I actually ended up spending the same amount for more birds.

I haven't had any issues with the stock from them. All have been nice birds and a good laying flock for us. I am not interested in show quality and their production stock works very well for us.

I must have got a bad rep or caught her on a bad day. Which I understand happens. Every time I asked a question there was a long pause, like she was thinking... awe crap... don't know the answer to that. The were simple questions too... almost like it was her first day.

This was my first time ordering from them so who knows. I guess I will fill you in when the ducks arrive, that is where you can truly tell how good a hatchery is. It's 20 degrees here in Ohio... the lady said that they will be fine... I've never ordered chicks/ducks when it's this cold out. So we will see...

Well, I just got off the phone with Ideal. Not sure who I talked to but the lady was helpful. When I originally called to place my order a few days ago, I wanted 40 pekins and 120 assorted others ducks. The first lady was clueless and told me that they didn't have any more Pekins... I told her that on their website, the availability for them said that they had plenty..... and I said that they should probably put "sold out" on their site. She didn't say anything and was almost confused by what I was talking about. So since they didn't have any pekins I just ordered 160 of the assorted... kinda disappointed as I was really looking for some meat ducks.

I just called them back about 10 minutes ago, and I'm talking to the lady and wanted a confirmed ship date because the first lady I talked to couldn't give me one...LOL... The first lady said it could be tuesday or wednesday. Which to me is dumb... you should know whose orders are going out on which date. The second lady told me a for sure answer, she said Wednesday...and the lady was really helpful, I told her that I also wanted to see what may be included in my order. I told her I wanted to get some meat breeds into the mix if I could... as I told her that since you didn't have the pekins I wanted something else. She asked me to hold.... came back and said.... "no we have plenty of pekins left would you want some?" I said that would be great give me 40 of them. Worked out perfect, and she is going to get back with me on what the assorted ducks may be. Awesome... I'm now a happy customer.

It only takes one bad apple to ruin a companies name... glad this lady was helpful. She went out of her way... so needless to say the service was a lot better.

I ordered from them this last August. Their minimum is $25.00 of any type of bird. I did not receive extra males, but was charged an extra $5.00 for having only a quarter box. I ordered 15 chicks and 5 keets and they were very healthy! I think that the buffs might have been older by about two or three days. They have been the most robust chicks I have ever received from a hatchery!
