Anyone painting their Chicken House now ?

We just painted our new coop. The old one is white with yellow trim. It looked really nice, but the white looked dingy really quickly. The new coop is turquoise with green trim. The run is being built this week and will be painted. I think we decided on using the green. I really like to look at historic paint palettes. These are both from a southwestern historic paint palette.

I love the turquoise !! I thought it might be too bright on a big house, but I really like it.

We're going with white trim. I know that would please my husband. Something classic.

I wanted to do some football colors for the boys (red and black, teal and black) but thinking I won't like black on a chicken house. Maybe we could just paint the logos.

Well, thanks for sharing your pic. I know my little one likes brighter colors. It looks really good !

The problem I'm having is that I have 4 houses in 2 chicken pens and I kind of want them to all sort of match (at least be in the same color palette).

My husband said, "What are you painting out there ? A Clown House ?". So, I'd better wait and get his two cents. I'm pretty sure I already know what he's going to say.

3 houses, then just paint each house one color. That leaves me with only 2 more color choices.

We'll see....I may be painting tomorrow or Sat. then.

I really love your turquoise color. It's very nice.

What if you picked two colors and alternated the main color of the coop and the trim for each house. So...if I had two then it would be my turquoise coop with green trim and a green coop with turquoise trim. It would keep things visually interesting, but keep things simple.

Thanks for the compliments on the coop color, we just finished it and I'm still all excited about it.

Well, I think we're going to stick with white trim. He needs to finish putting up some trim first.

I wish that turquoise color was in our color palette.

I think I'm going to paint the rest of that one house all pale pink and then go pale light yellow and pale lavender for the other 2 houses. Then I can paint a cute chickie image or chicken images on the doors of each house.

It's good to spend some time thinking things over. I may go out and get a gallon of paint when we go to the store today.

I do like that lime green too. But we have too many blues and greens already between my house (light blue w/ white trim) and my barn (light aquamarine with white trim), and my first chicken house is ice blue.

So, I figured yellow and purple would be a nice compliment to the pink and blue. 4 cute colorful chicken houses in very light pastel shades.

Wow...I love your pens..and your web page is totally awesome...great job and nice to look at and easy to read....you have a lot of animals...lol...nice work!

I have painted one of my coops...it is the same color as the house...dark grey and white with black trim...have to paint the other...

Thanks for checking out our site !

Love the pic of yours ! What are those cages in the middle pen, with the wood frame doors ?

I'm going to get to painting probably after Christmas. Still entertaining color ideas.

After just getting back from Key West, I still love those typical Key West colors ! Can't quite decide on which 2 colors. I'm thinking definitely a lime green (got key limes on my brain - although they really are more yellow when ripe). But a lime green color reminds me of key lime pie (also yellowy in color, actually). What does lime green remind me of ? I don't even really like limes as much as lemons.

Maybe the color of a Meyer's lemon (kind of orangey-yellow). I'll decide I guess when I'm looking over paint swatches again !

Hope to chat with you again after you're done painting your other chicken house(s) like me !

Thanks,
Lisa
