Last year I feed mine canteloupe that never matured all the way, a huge crop of spaghetti squash, left over pumpkins, old corn on the cob, carrots, lettuce, spinach, etc. I have planted all of this again but am looking for additional items to plant. I try to store the winter squashes and pumpkins to give a fresh treat every day during the winter. Have thought about freezing the corn on the cob to do the same.

Thanks for directing me to this thread. I am also doing the sunflowers. I get the mammoths that are 10 feet tall and am hoping they will shade the girls by August.

Deenamr, I love your pocket dog! That is a beautiful baby.

I've always fed my chickens all the leftovers from the garden, they love it. One thing we do in the fall is let the chickens in to clean up the garden on their own. We keep them fenced out during the summer, and they forage in the fall. They love it.

Can chickens survive free ranging pasture. common plants, bugs and weeds if they have a water supply?
