I want to start a new hobby, and not more birds! Does anyone play the piano? I have always wanted to play and there is a Vose and Sons upright piano for $100 in the paper. I was thinking about buying it. What do you think, is it that hard to play? It is like my life long dream, but i dont know. Is there any oher way tham taking lessons to learn how to play the piano? Help me here

Lessons and lots and lots of practice. You need to be disciplined to practice.

I took lessons as a child and stopped when I was 13. Then when I was 16, I started up again and took for 4 more years.

Did I mention, lots and lots of practice. That is the ticket.

I am teaching myself also. it would be definitely quicker to take lessons, but there are some music books out there to teach you. If you are at all musically inclined--I would say it is possible to be a self taught piano player. Can't say that we're gonna play professionally or anything, but like you, I always wanted to learn. I am starting to play with two hands now. I say go for it.

I bought my first piano last year at the age of 57. A friend has given me enough lessons that I know which note on the music is which note on the keys. I play some every day just to entertain myself. I can now play 8 different pieces all the way through.

Go for it. I bought a piano out of the paper for $150, and it cost me another $100 to get it moved, tuned and 2 hammers replaced. It was worth every penny.

Started when I was 5, so 35 years. I play for fun around the house. I also play for God. I fill in for the keyboard player in our church's praise team. And a used piano is always good. My was 20 years old and I paid $400. It cost 90 to have it moved and $150 for the double tuning that was required the first time to get in tune.

Used to. Played classical music. Took years of lessons. My hands hurt too much now to and since my house is not "climate controlled", I cant bring my piano from my dad's house to mine or it will be ruined from too much humidity in the summer.
