Anyone ready to ring in the new year...and lose weight/get fit?

i tried weight watchers a few yrs ago.. but i didn't lose any weight.. doctor said they gave too many carbs and that is not good for a diabetic.. so i mostly am eating meat and veggies.. and lots of water.. next weigh in will tell the truth..

Ok... I hate to say this, but MAN does it feel GOOD!

My sister... little sister... was always the skinny blonde adorable one in the family... and a spoiled little 'you know what' to boot. Since she's had 2 kids (managed to get back to a size 1 after the first one), and now she's at 164 and a sz 14. As you see, I am 161 and wearing a sz 10. This is the first time in my entire life that I have been smaller then her! I had to hand me down her the clothes I have grown out of. Tonight she was crying about her weight because she's getting married in September and can't even reasonably fit in her dream dress. The kicker... she can't fit in what was my wedding dress either!!!

I'm snickering and laughing at her so bad its not even funny!!!!

I can empathise there -
My sister was ALWAYS the tiny skinny one - She used to buy her adult clothes from mother care!!!!!!! She was 4 foot 8 inches tall and was only about 6 and a half stone.
She was the one who got married in the white frilly frock - were as I got married in a suit cause I just looked like a large marshmallow!!!!

Well 25 yrs on shes been in several relationships and is divorced. - So I guess the frock didn;t really do her much good after all!!!!! I still struggle with my weight but am in other ways generally healthy where as my sister who now lives alone has MS and struggles to keep going everyday.

I am not sure I would laugh at her but certainly she was always quick to point out how FAT and ugly I was and how she would have the prince charming etc etc and I would be a lonely old bag!!! - funny how it turned out the other way round!!!!!

I have always been the one with the lightest weight among my sisters

However I still want to reduce a few kgs more.
So yes, time to get fit and lose weight

I have two sisters. I'm the tallest of the three, but I was also the heaviest. When I was a teen my older sister would often ask me if I wanted to borrow her clothes, then quickly follow up with a "Gee, I forgot, I don't think they'll fit."
At one point I became the skinny one and she gained 100 lbs. She was probably 220 and I was 130 at the time...I went to her house to swim and she asked me if I gained weight 'cause it looked like my stomach was bigger......Ya know, it's hard not to let her have it now, but I've never made a comment or backhanded compliment. I see her giving me the once over EVERY time she sees me. She's looking for a roll, a spot of cellulite, anything so she can make sure I know about it. Some people are never happy in their skin. (My younger sister btw has never commented on anyone's size. Funny how different siblings can be.)

Question here: Does drinking tea count in water consumption? Still trying to get my 8 glasses in, finding it hard though.

First, yes the tea counts as water consumption... I like my chai tea w/ a tsp of honey. I probably drink 4 cups a day!

Secondly, I think I understand where you are coming from. I am the oldest and my sister is the middle child. I relate to this because she did give me slack, my own mother got me started on slim fast at 12 because she couldn't believe I couldn't be as small as my sister was. Though both my parents are diabetic and we'd eat Mc D's growing up 3 times a week... they never would take blame for our poor eating habits (which obviously I've changed as I've changed my whole lifestyle to organic and we don't eat fast food). Either way I guess being put done or having your flaws pointed out to your constantly really gives you some extra satisfaction when the rolls change!

A while back they said anything with caffeine was not to be counted, because it was a diuretic and worked against you. The last thing I read on it is that even coffee counts as fluid intake. it all comes out eventually, and the percolating it through is the good part. Not as much diuretic detriment is done with coffee and tea as previously thought ...and the antioxidants are good for you.

I cut juices with water and drink hot water when I am cold and do not feel like tea. Just add a bit to everything all day. also measure out in a pitcher what you need to drink in oz. then it does not seem so difficult to keep up with. I was trying to do 8 glasses years ago, and then measured my glasses. 22oz. I think they want you to drink 64 oz, right?

Most endocrinologists (doctors who treat diabetes and other disorders of the endocrine or glandular system) will tell you straight-up that Weight Watchers is the most balanced program out there. I have several diabetic family members who were recommended by their physicians to use WW & they lost weight and did great.

The thing with Weight Watchers is that they do not tell you what to eat... you are presented with choices. If the choices you make are high in carbs and cause your diabetes to go out of control, that's because of the food choices and has nothing to do with Weight Watchers.
