Anyone ready to ring in the new year...and lose weight/get fit?

I went for a walk with the dog and actually trotted a bit! (I wouldn't even go so far as to call it jogging, much less running...) Certainly got my heartrate and breathing up!

Thanks for the inspiration everyone!

You are just as inspiring for still being here, and still going strong... especially after week 2!

Y'all are doing so well. Week three always sucketh, its a dieting rule. You aren't in habit mode yet, and if you're like me you are running out of the easy stuff to make. I picked my CSA up again, I think the next batch of soup is broccoli and tonight I'm going to put greens and a ham bone in a very slow oven over night. The last batch of soup wasn't very interesting, and I won't use that recipe again...veggie soup with too much cabbage. I have my fasting blood draw tomorrow morning, so I'm looking at collard greens with ham for lunch. Not exactly low fat, but yummy and packed with vitamins.

Got my heartrate and breathing up just thinking about trotting. Me and the cat walked the fence line yesterday (15 acers). Dumb cat walks with you like a dog.

Molly good luck on the blood draws tomorrow

I got my CSA as well. Gotta figure out what I'm gonna do with it.

Good luck on the blood draw!

But after the belly coment from DH I am thinking maybe just maybe I wont strike a 0 point this week for the first time!!!!!!!
I am hoping to have finally lost something???? Trouble is I tend to "find" it again!!! So I need to be careful!!!!!!!

I took a long time to get off of the Christmas binge and on track !!!!! I get soooooo hungry at night and I drink coffee like a fish

So I have to be really good

I have had a horrid horrid week and I fell off the wagon and started comfort eating.

I had lost 3 lbs last week but I put 1lb of that back on due to the goodies I was stuffing in my face. But I am back on track now and hopefully will manage to stay good again. Last night I had a huge prawn and veg stir fry which was divine and kept me full for most of the evening and i am tucking into my veggie omelette as I type this.

Well done to everyone still taking part. Even small changes are a great start.

PS. Thanks to Oesdog for the "where are you" PM. Pretty good support network we have going on here.

Good your doing better Big hairy cow thing !!!!!!!

Prawn salad - yummy! Must do some of that. You say it kept you full cause in the evening I am sooooooooooooooooo hungry!!!!! But funny thing is I feel full when I get up in the mornings and I can hardly face having a breakfast!!!!!! However Breakfast is rather an event in our house as DH likes to bake bread and make porridge etc.

Oesdog - stay on the wagon girl!!!!!!!!

I really need to come start sharing recipes... we've had some EXCELLENT dinners, that seemed almost sinful, but not as of lately.

I made a hardy italian style chili the other night that was to die for, and good for you too.

Chili

1 lb of spicy turkey sausage uncooked (take it out of the skins)
Crush this up and place in a deep skillet and cook until brown (1 tbsp of olive oil will help this)
Remove from heat and set aside

In the same pan cook 2 medium sized chopped carrots and 1 whole chopped large onion (add more oil if the bottom of the pan is dry)
Salt and pepper to taste
After about 4-5 minutes the onions will be translucent and the carrots getting soft on the outside.
Add 1/2 cup of red wine, strap the bottom of the pan to free any meat drippings, then reduce by half
Now add 2 minced garlic cloves, 2 tsp basil dried, 1 tsp oregano, 1 tsp paprika, pinch of salt and pepper

Now add 1 drained can of black beans, add the meat back in, add one tiny can of tomato paste & 1 can same size as black bean can of diced tomatoes WITH the juices from the can
Stir all together, bring to a boil then turn down to a simmer. Add red pepper flakes & cayenne to taste is you like it spicy now.

Let sit and thicken, about 10 minutes.

Glad you didn't throw in the towel!!! I comfort eat too...is that the same as stress eating? I think so. I just don't buy chips and snack foods to tempt me. If I buy cookies for DH and the kids it's fig bars. Not my fave so I won't pig out on those. If I buy chips I give the entire thing to DH to take and keep at work.

Anybody have a salt addiction??? I think that's why I'm not really losing right now. I LOVVVVVVVVVVVVVE salt!! These bad habits are hard to break. Especially when one has so many!

Oesdog, I'm more excited about your weigh in than my own!!
