Anyone ready to ring in the new year...and lose weight/get fit?

I'm down three pounds. This is really nice since my official weigh in of one week is Monday. I don't know that I will get in any walking today because the pollen counts are the highest in three years. Tomorrow when it is cold and rainy I will walk. Spark People is really helping. I put down everything, and it helps me keep track. I've been within my calorie counts everyday. My trainer called, and I will be meeting with her on Tuesday. I hope she doesn't hurt me too much.

Just stay mindful. But try not to obsess. Small changes will show slow improvement. We did not get here in one day, so we have to slowly remove what we slowly put on. It will happen! I am

for us!

about 20 years ago, I had neighbors from Surrey. She got a kick out of me saying I had a rock in my shoe. She could not imagine the size of the shoe needed to get a rock in it. Your comment about 'a biscuit or a cake' reminded me of the small but giant difference in language usage.

Thanks I will try not to obsess!!!!!! I find it hard though. I went up to 12 stone which for someone only just 5 foot on tip toe - well is quite a lot!!!!!! My ideal weight should be around 7 and a half - 8 and a half stone ( Appologies for not converting to pounds!!!!! ) That old language usage!!!! I lost a good load of weight with a bad cancer scare and I managed to keep it off - but I am far from the weight I should be. Anyhow I am going to try to walk more and use the cross trainer too!!!! I am often in pain though so can;t do too much at one time!!!! I sure need encouragement to get this weight down!!!! Want to make it work this time and not give up!!!! Were going to weigh in every week on the weight chart are we?????? I didn;t start when you all did and so I am catching up!!!!

I did better than I thought I'd do (4.2 lbs) ...but I know it's mostly water loss. Like wildorchid053 said, from now on it will be 1-2 lbs a week. I went from drinking 3-4 cups of coffee a day with creamer in it...that's an extra 315 calories a day or 2,205 a week! ( I went down to one cup.) You don't realize how the little things add up.

you continue to inspire me.

oesdog don't get frustrated going out the gate. You will see results, give it time. It's the little things...park in the farthest space to get a few more steps in, choose the stairs, do some ballet leg exercises while you're waiting for the toast. (ballet is an incredible exercise for toning). Just don't give up!!! Don't be discouraged by what you haven't accomplished, celebrate what you have. You're eating healthier already!

I think the biggest accomplishment here is how people are make a conscious effort to eat BETTER. Even if you don't lose weight you WILL be healthier. That's so much more important! So

i am sooooo proud of you all for taking steps to be healthier.. when you only have a few pounds to lose it is the hardest and takes the longest so don't give up if you haven't made any progress.. it is a new week and lessons learned from last week will help you on your way.. maybe a little more exercise or a little less fats in your diets or smaller portions.. the only one who knows is you.. for me right now it is the portion control and the healthier foods.. instead of danish and eggs i have a banana and almonds. or dry toast with an egg on top.. no pancakes and butter and bacon for me.. or if i do it won't be 4 pancakes and 4 bacon.. one pancake with diet syrup no butter and 1 bacon.. you can have what you want just do it smaller and just for a treat but make up for it in other ways.. less calories later or more exercise. my hubby is getting the idea that i am not going to make seperate meals anymore because what i am eating is good for him too.. he is not overweight. when he made choc chip cookies last week i was angry, but i put them in a zip lock bag and into a drawer that only he goes to in the kitchen and he and my son ate all of them.. i forgot they were even there.. he did set up my treadmill in the basement but who wants to be down there? so sunday i am having my son help hubby get it up into the living room where there are lots of windows to watch out of and if i get too hot i can always crack a window open and let the cold air in on me.. at least i am not so tired now too from starting the diet. i have more energy. not easy getting 262 lb moving. anyways congrats to all of you for trying so hard.... linda

Your muscles just bulked upped from the shoveling. It still is the correct direction. You are active and mindful. it's all good. Don't despair.

You know what, if you are working out... your muscles build faster then the fat will go, so you may have lost a couple lbs in fat but gained muscle. Its VERY true. I had a personal trainer explain to me what to expect the first month, and I was warned not to weigh in for 30 days the first go around if you have any type of work out schedule because it would skew the results.

So think positive and keep fighting the good fight!

I am still yet to go weigh in.... my scale is not being honest with me I believe. Or I'm having serious water weigh issues?! I'm fluxing in my numbers throughout the day the last couple of days.

Ok weighed in! (And I am weaing a size 11 I picked up at the thift shop yesterday.... man am I lovin' this!)

So my question to everyone is, I understand your weight lose goals and what you are doing for this to work now. Has anyone put together and made 'lifestyle' changing goals they will stick to forever?

Like my lifestyle change in trying to lose weight is NO MORE SODA EVER! Diet or otherwise!

I am also done with fast food. If it has a 'drive thru', I can not purchase from them.

Well, I wasn't going to, but have decided to try to drop about 15-20 lbs., or the equivelant(sp?) of fitting properly into my jeans! I can wear most of my jeans, but a few pairs give me that horrible "muffin-top"--------gross!!!! I did Atkins last winter, and did lose quite a bit, but gained some back when I went off-diet. This time, I am just cutting back on calories, and eliminating the junk. I will still have a bowl of oatmeal for breakfast, but for lunch, it will be a yogurt and some almonds, and then a snack around 3 p.m. of an apple and cheese. Dinners don't seem to be much of a problem----just won't eat anything after 6:30 p.m. And drinking LOTS of water! I now weigh around 150-155, and would LOVE to get down to 135 (although I don't own a scale). I just need to be strong.

Oh, I'm one of those people who absolutely HATE structured exercise. Used to do pilates every day, and that really works-----my problem now is that I can't seem to find the time to do them.

Okay folks - I managed to drop a whopping .6 pounds. Whee. At least it's not going up. Of course, I haven't been so good about the exercise this week.

But - remember that we're trying to be healthier, not just skinnier. (Take it from a former skinny gal - skinny != healthy.) And all the healthier eating, portion control, and extra activity IS making us healthier, regardless of what the scale says.

Now I'm off to the farmers market. Keep up the great work everyone!

Just weighed in and I am now 178 from (drumroll) 185 So I am going in the right direction!!! Hope this weekend I don't put it right back on- we are going on an ann weekend getaway without kids and I am not going to worry about what I am eating.
