Anyone ready to ring in the new year...and lose weight/get fit?

you dont have to go all out on exercise all u need to do is to exercise for atleast 30 min. a day. sure dieting helps but there is no need to spend all that money on custom diet programs. i have eaten less, jogged for 20minutes, and swam laps for 10 so i suggest doing what i did

Well you all know how hard it has been for me to get to the point of weight loss!!!!!! Yeap I am still same old girl on the scale. However I have been doing the odd bit of excersize!!! Yes I know this is a miricle for me!! Anyhow I think I said that I felt that my tummy was smaller and I felt thinner though I was very sad and depressed when I got on the scale and it hasn;t changed a great deal since the start of this thread!! Well today DH and I were folding the washing and he says to me you know you would fit them pants of Danny's - !!!!! I laughed and said don;t be daft I am still fat and Danny is really skinny. The trousers were 32 inch waist and 30 leg Dan is tiny for 23yrs. Anyhow for a laugh I took them and thought I will show him how fat I am still! I was thinking I am not going to get my leg into this let alone the rest of me. My thighs are really big so I thought never in a million years!!!! But to my surprise my leg went in! Then the other one and I thought oh gosh but they will never get round my big backside sure Danny is a wee skinny little runt! But I pulled them up and they went straight over my hips without even having to pull or yank! I thought wow but they wont meet in the middle and I am going to be left looking daft with a big flabby fleshy belly hanging out! But NOOOO - I buttoned them and zipped them right up!!!! They were a little tight and no I wouldn;t wear them out or anything but hay what do you think of that!!!!!! I think I am gonna kick the scales out!

Woohoo! Lots of congrats on this! Lately, whenever I pick up a hand weight (whether 8,10, whatever) I marvel over the fact of how much extra weight that many of us carry and how just 10 extra lbs slows us down. So when I read or hear someone losing weight and are able to exercise more, etc, I'm excited and pleased!

I have added Crossfit to my workout regime.....I am NOT losing weight, but I'm seeing muscles developing in places I've never had before....I'm stronger, too, so I am way excited by this body change!

I wish I was winning something.
Guys - I feel a wee bit low about all this. I am eating one slice of toast for breakfast with scrambled egg NO butter. OK maybe 2 many coffees but I am working on that.
I have a break at about 11.30 am for coffee and a bun ( Have to keep DH happy! - But its my only treat and he has made them lower in fat and put more fruit in them!) or I am really good and just eat an apple or banana. For Dinner in the evening I have a normal T - meat two veg type of thing and I try hard not to use too much fat in cooking etc. If the others have roast potato I invariably boil a couple for me type of thing! I choose low fat foods such as salad Without dressing and Fish. I seldom have desert and if I do it is yogurt and fruit or if I am bad a bit of honey/ or syrup. But I never have anything after that maybe just coffee later in the evening.
I feel more toned and have been doing abit of working out! So I am doing some excersizes. My clothes feel losser and they are not pulled tight across my skin now. But then I went to see the scales and guess what THEY ARE THE SAME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! HOW ON EARHT CAN THIS BE AFTER ALL MY HARD WORK!!!!!!! I am gutted!!!!

Oesdog - I never want to post my weight again!!!

Don't feel bad Oesdog, you may want to modify your food a little more.

How much water vs coffee (hopefully it's black) do you drink? Water helps the body process and move food along in your system. You should have about 72 oz or more a day...

It also looks like you are still eating quite a few carbs. For breakfast, eat your eggs, fruit, yogurt, but skip the toast. Trade the bun for a banana or apple. and at dinner, switch that potato for steamed cauliflour or another veggie. (one sm boiled potato is 131 cals vs 1/2 cauliflower at 14 cals) If you eat 5 small portions a day instead of 3 "normal" meals, your body is never in hunger mode (it likes to store everything if it's hungry), so you won't eat as much and it's easier to make better choices. If you want to treat yourself, do it once a week.

If your cloths are fitting better, and you picked up on activity, you may be swapping fat for muscle (which also helps to burn fat) and muscle weighs more than fat. Just keep eating healthy and cut out the coffee! You can do it!

I've been tracking my calories on Myfitnesspal.com-it has really helped me realize what I am eating on a daily basis. I'm down 13 lbs so far, but have quite a bit more to go.

My sister swears by that thing! She started losing weight back in September and is down over 50 pounds now!

I'm jealous of your sister... she's got me beat! hahaha

I use sparkepeople.com and love it for the same reasons, plus their recipe site is awesome too.

I started in January, (not a New Years resolution, lol!) and I'm only down 13 lbs, but I had a son hospitalized two times, and with 4 kids total and a hectic life right now, I'm still proud of myself. I haven't given up, but have had some set backs as far as time to work out, meal choices etc.
