Anyone Refuse To Buy A City Permit?

that's my philosophy with any type of permit!

Another Tax for the King, soon you'll have a tax on ,,,,,,well you already have a tax on everything. Didn't we start a revolution over all these taxes?

I don't have a permit. My city only allows five chickens and I have, um, more. The coop is clean and I don't keep roosters. My hens are way less annoying than the neighbor who has a whole load of semi-feral outdoor cats or the one who leaves her barking dog outside all day when she is at work. Plus I would need to get approval from all my immediate neighbors anyway to get the permit and they already approve, so why pay? The neighbors with the dogs and cats don't need to get special permission for their annoying pets, why should I for my way less annoying and more useful pets?

I didn't bother asking if I needed one and my city councilman knows I have them and has not said a word.

You choose to live in the city; the city has rules, just like neighborhoods have restrictive covenants. Most of the time these rules and covenants are in place when the resident moves into their house. I live in the county and have no restrictions or rules governing my property. However, I do have to drive by my neighbors "junkyard" several times a day. It is his property and he can do what he wants to with it, he could care less what his neighbors think. There is a price to pay for both situations; personally I would buy the permit under protest. Good luck.
