Witherspoon spent $1,200 to get a chicken's leg fixed

Oscar-winning actress Reese Witherspoon spent $1,200 to get a chicken's broken leg fixed.

The 33-year-old actress splashed out the staggering sum after her children Ava, 10, and six-year-old Deacon were left devastated by the bird's injury, reported femalefirst.co.uk.

'Reese wasn't too broken up about the bird's injury, figuring it would be best to have it put down. But the kids couldn't stop crying, so she rushed it to a veterinary,' said a source.

The chicken was injured on the family's ranch in California.

Lucky chicken. But hey, eventually kids have to learn that lesson. Although I bet if a lot of parents had the money to do something like that to prevent their kids some pain, they would in a heartbeat.

When I die, I want to come back as the pet of someone rich and famous who absolutely adores their pet more than human company!

Or who has children that they completely overindulge!

While I got to say that $1200 is more than I would spend on a chicken, it doesn't seem unreasonable for someone to spend that on a dearly loved pet. DH and I were ready to pay (painfully, of course!) $2,500 for surgery to get our dogs torn ACL fixed. Luckily, the specialist determined it was only partially torn and that we can do non-surgical treatment. I would much rather spend $1,200 than $2,500! Luckily, we spent less than $500 (which still hurts!

However, I am VERY pleased to hear that a famous actress owns chickens!
