Anyone seen this before? Pic's

Could she have been bitten/stung by something? Spider? Scorpion?

Just reaching here - - ??

It's just so strange that both glands are equally affected, but the opening is just as nice and pink as can be. I do agree with speckledhen that it looks like an impaction/infection, though. Chef, do you have access to any strong antibiotics, like Baytril or Tylan 50? Can you give injections?

I agree. Don't damage the little nib that is the way oil is secreted for the feathers.

I am going to suggest liberally coating the area with blu-kote or red-kote and waiting to see if they begin to shrink.

Since the scabs are hard and not weeping to remove them might introduce a worse infection that may not heal.

I would not remove those scabs until I knew for sure the area wasn't healing.

Sometimes a skin tear will heal over like that. The mending works for the inside out and soon the scab would disappear.

Yes I do have tylan50. I will start antibiotic treatment and see how it goes. Thank you for the input!

I did a course of antibiotics and there has been no change just maybe a tiny bit bigger. I haven't messed with them at all and she seems to be doing just fine. She is eating and acting normal so I guess I'm just gonna see if they will fall off. I havn't soaked them with blue or red kote but I'm worried that it will leave to big of an open sore. It is really wierd looking and I would like to know what it is so I know if it is something I could potentially prevent in the future. I just havn't been able to to find any info related to the problem. I was kinda shocked that knowone here that has answered has never seen such a thing. Guess I just gotta keep searchin. Please let me know if you find something. Thanks!

Hey Chef, thanks for posting an update. I was wondering how she was doing.

The only other thing I could imagine would be a staph infection . . . and we don't wanna go there, eh! Glad to hear she seems to be doing better. Please do keep us posted.
