Anyone set with me this weekend? Set 28 October - Hatching 18 November

We had a 100% hatch rate for our first time hatch!! Although we only had 4 in there, we didn't want a big bunch our first time trying it. We are stoked at that hatch rate since so many times i have read of problems and very few people having a 100% hatch. Super excited to try a few bigger hatchings! Here are our new members!

Very nice! great waterer too!!

all my six newly hatched chicks....
Soo Sweet!!

when can chicks hatched in November go outside? I am brand new to chickens, just setting up my coop. I had planned on trying to get full grown chickens because it would be too cold for chicks

Hiya JMarie! I usually wait until mine are feathered out before I put them outside.

lhawes: I love the coke bottle, was at a poultry show in MD a few weeks ago and someone there was using a Blue Moon beer bottle for their chickens water.

Blarneyeggs- yeah, we are close! I kept seeing that and forgot to mention it. I have chicken brain, lol.

Cngrats on the new hatches!!! I have my broody cooking the 4 original eggs and they have an eviction date for next Sunday. I can't wait! I have no doubts about the mommy, she's not even leaving the nest. I have to feed her and give her water and grass in her box. I saw a big turd right in front of the box to like she's just hanging her fluffy butt over the edge enough to drop it, lol. I have to take a pic of it tomorrow. She stands up all of her feathers and hisses when I open it but when she sees it's me with food she calms down. She was bought with my silkies when they were chicks and she mothered them for weeks, and they were around 8-10 weeks old, but they followed behind her and she didn't let anyone look at them wrong! She's a Cochin so I now she's a good broody. I just can't wait to see her be with her babies! I might bring them in and put them in a dog cage inside until the chicks can get into the coop. What do you all think I should do?

I love this for the broody family!

This is someone else's pic but I am going to do this and keep the lid on so she can be on floor level with the chicks. It's a 2 foot ramp to get into the house so I think this will work for a bit.
