Anyone setting eggs starting July 15 -July 22?

Yeah figured that out already .However i have 12 ppl atthistime wanting them locally at $9 each all will take 2 (i insist on 2 minimum)some want 4 so I figure if i get a good hatch rate..(NON-shipped) and can buy like 36 eggs i make $324 minus the $91 leaves $233 ahead.Good pin money.
If im gonna hatch chicks and have fun doing it might as well make their feed money HAHA
Once mine are grown next year then no output for eggs or trips for them.and might try some of my girls as broodys . who knows!.

Eggtopsy today Many unhatched eggs (6 22 day still in bator in case) (9 chicks from 32 eggs not 33% guck) .a lot not fertile or chick died very early . 3 died first 10 days 2 look like shrink wrapped before hatch not sure but the membrane on day 23 was white and dry looking(Humidity was 75-76) so generally sounds like shipping problems to me except the 2 late deaths. My granddaughter did the eggs as i watched (13 and impatient)so didnt peel thru the all yellow to find the baby size.
LOVE ordering by internet- fun and box coming- fun... but its just not working out for me well.Still may do a few though.

Actually I do have two sets of chicks brooding in the house.  Twenty two 3 week old pullets from Meyer Hatcheries "Rare Egg Layer Assortment" and the 17 one day old chicks that I just pulled out of my incubator.  But the 3 week old group will be going outside today or tomorrow.  I can't believe I'm up to 66 chickens now, I've got to get rid of some of these or my wife is going to either leave me or have me committed.  She keeps saying "I'm gonna call your mamma!"  We've been married for 22 years and she has been great, I'm not the easiest person to live with.  When I told her about the 18 duck eggs that I just ordered from Metzer Farms she just shook her head.  She says the only bad thing about baby chicks and ducklings is that they grow up to be chickens and ducks.

Ya but they r so cute when they are little. It makes up for it

I went to nursing school after I started working at the Fire Department, all firemen have other jobs. After I finished nursing school and started banking some serious cash, several other firemen decided to do that. I think 9 or 10 of the firemen have finished nursing school now.

What kind of construction?

Hey everyone,
I am done with my hatch. Just cleaned the incubator. Got a total of 17 hatched out of 18 that went to lock down. Of the 17, four were shipped eggs and 13 were local. The 17 were from 23 fertile eggs to start with. The hatch rate is much higher than I expected for my first hatch. My kids loved to watch the chicks hatch from their shells, and have been holding them every chance they get. It's been a great experience. And a big thanks to all who offered advice and encouragement. Good luck with your hatchlings and to your future hatches.
Congratulations on 17 out of 18 - that's fantastic! I loved the *kid enjoyment* as well- so fun!!

Thanks, it was one of the many subjects that I hyperfocused on for a few months and then moved on to something else.
That's wonderful! Something everyone should know a little about at least.
Hey, I think I must have gotten a couple of Ameraucana chicks in my rare breed assortment from Meyer. They look just like yours.
I love those chipmunk chicks! Most of these chicks have a white Ameraucana roo and some brown ameraucana hens as parents.

I have finished the first round on my hatch.Set 30 eggs,my own EEs and some EEs and large blue bantie roo.I had 7 candle clear on day 14 and 5 that didn't hatch at the end.So I ended up with 10 of the EEs and 8 from my project pen.I have what looks to be a white from my EEs and I've never had a white one.Mine are red and buff.I know they can be any color but I am stumped as to where this came from.I did get one lighter blue and a couple darker blue from my project pen. They will all be some very pretty hens when they grow up.I hoping they are all hens.LOL.I like roos too and hope they are good looking also.I have 16 eggs still in the incurbator, all the same as I just hatched, that will hatch the 14th and the 17th.After that I am working on the next.I have 36 eggs right now I will set some time next week.I'll try and find some thread the same time and keep up better next time.Congrats to all who hatched. And sorry to hear about the ones who didn't.I think my own failures have caused me to try harder and learn more and hatch more.I spent almost $700 on shipped eggs before I figured out I just couldn't hatch shipped eggs.I now just save eggs from my best hens when I get the urge to hatch more.I have sold my extras for $10 each around 4-5 months old and have folks that want more. That works for me as I can keep the ones I really like and make room for the next ones I want to hatch.

What cute babies!! Congrats! That white one is adorable- how exciting.

Lil Turkey Mama....babies are really adorable
My camera.sucks so does my cheap phone camera.
Yeah the shipped eggs are fun to get and its a high waiting for the hatch but when you loose its so frustrating and then you win a little and sucked back into think you will win next time.
I dont think i have spent $700 maybe total $300 still ....enough.2 of my hatches are still not to lockdown so i guess i will see what comes with them
I am hopeful about them but so was I on these last 3 Less than 1/3 hatched.Cant wait until i have some grown and hatching themselves or giving me incubator eggs. Home grown or local bought.. seem to hatch easily
