Anyone setting eggs starting July 15 -July 22?

Place a soaked sponge in a pan and run tubing from the pan to the outside.  I have a piece of fishtank tubing that I ran from my "mini" bread pan with a sponge (on the inside) and taped it to the outside. I just fill a syringe with hot water and then squirt it through the tube into the pan.

If you went into lockdown then the humidity needs to be between 65% and 75%. You don't want those babies to get shrink wrapped. I had my humidity in the high 60's and still had a shrink wrapped one.

Ok....got it.....but how do I get the water out once it cools down??...this is my 1st batch in an incubator....candle All & got 11 out of 13 on day 16, 17 & 18 (stagger hatching)....today at 12 noon is my last lock-down for the last 2....I put the others toward the back of the cabinet so I can still turn the others!

Started with a small batch to see this thing works....only thing I do know...is I'm gonna make a plexus glass door so I can see them hatching without openin the door next batch...teehee

You don't remove it once it cools down, because it won't cool down completely. The water creating humidity plus your temperature is at 99.5, your water will do what it's supposed to. Just make sure that it doesn't empty out.

I used the air holes to add water to the sponge when the humidity dropped [I would use a syringe plunger to push water through the hole and onto the sponge.

If you're worried about over heating, just add a little bit of warm water at a time [don't use red hot water as it WILL cool and mess with your temperatures] and monitor the humidity until you get it up where you want it.

Just like WRVgirl said the water will cool down some but the temp. of the bator will cause it to evaporate keeping your humidity up. Just make sure to add warm water when you are adding. To hot and it may cause your temp. to climb. Too cold and it could drop. As for the plexiglass what I did was go to the dollar store and purchase a $1- 8x10 picture frame and used the glass out of that. Cheaper than going somewhere and having them cut a piece for you. I cut a hole out of the top of my cooler just a little bit smaller (1/2 inch) than the glass and used caulking around the edges to "glue" it on. I let it dry for a day and it was good to go.
As for turning the later ones I was told once you go into lockdown you don't open to turn any of the others. I bought 15 eggs ( 3 were duds) from a local farmer and from what has happened to me so far I am thinking I had some eggs that were older and had started developing before I got them. I had 5 chicks hatch on Thursday and Friday (day 16 &17) and the other 7 are still in lockdown because Tuesday is day 21 for me. I did open the bator to remove the hatched chicks once they were all dried and fluffy.

Got the hose runnin out the air hole on the side & usin my "new" seasoning injector syringe to add the water....but now my dilemma is not bein able to open the door to see the humidity level....NEED a way to see it....ugh!!

So is there I time for me to add water??....like every 4 hours or sumthin??....How much water??...1/2 cup or ??
I have No Clue & don't want the pan to over flow!!

OMG!!....That's a GREAT IDEA!!....Thanx Bunches!!!
I'll go to the Dollar Tree & get a picture frame....a window will work alot better...won't have to drill holes for the hinges & door locks!!

I went on ahead this mornin & took the 2 others out of the egg cart & laid them with the rest....Saw 1 pippin...Woohoo!!....putted the plastic pan that came with it & clipped the (2) sponges on the side with paper clips, so they will stand up rite....also ran a hose outside to add the water like u recommended....sprayed all the eggs with alil mist to help get the humidity up....NOW I'm in Total Lock Down!!

Hope this batch hatches...if not....I know what to do next time!!!
