Anyone setting eggs starting July 15 -July 22?

My little wryneck chick died this morning. So sad. Now I have one with spraddle feet. Not a bad case, he can stand up and hobble around. I have put the brace on and will see how that goes. My first hatch and all these problems. I seriously think that GOD is either telling me to stop messing with his work or else putting these hurdles in way my to make me stronger for the next time. Afraid to see what the next hatch brings.
The three eggs that are still in the bator show no signs of hatching yet. I'll give it another day or so and then do an eggtopsy. On the positive side, the other chicks are doing GREAT. I can't believe how big they have gotten in just a few days.

Sorry to hear bout ur Lil one....it's hard to face a lost after u have gotten close & care for it!!
Just keep the faith & remember....this is ur 1st try...keep learning!!

God is there to help us....but not do it for us!!
He has given us challenges through-out life...crawling, walkin, talkin, eatin, etc.etc.
This is another challenge!! U can either give up....r keep tryin!!
But givin up....means u will never know "what could have been" r "how strong u will b"

Stay Positive!!
Appreciate that U DID IT!!...& have sum that did hatch!!
Keep the Hope, Faith & Dream Alive within urself!!

U still have a few more to go!!

This is my 1st batch in usin an incubator, GQF 1202 cabinet...never helped b4.

But had 1 pipped yesterday at 2:30am.....& hatched today at 5:30am....

Also noticed....they pip when the humidity is 60-65 & hatched when I add fresh warm water
Humidity was 65-70 then!!

And I'm sure sum1 with More Experience will help too!!

****This is my personal experience. May Not work for everyone***
I have a large cabinet incubator. Temp & humidity varies at
differernt levels/racks within it. Please use caution! :)

I had one pip and made the hole into about the size of a nickle. I could see it's beak and that it was moving but as time went on I knew it was getting weaker. I waited about 24 hours and then zipped the egg myself and put it back in the bator to allow the chick to come out itself. The membrane had totally dried out and the only place that wasn't shrink wrapped was his head. I used a q-tip soaked in warm water to soak a small area of the body and then slowly peeled the membrane off with the q-tip. I made sure to have a heat lamp on the chick as I was doing this.As soon as I was done with one area I would place him back in the bator to warm up for about an hour and then took him out to do the next. It has been 2 days since he has been placed in the brooder and except for the fact that he did not fluff out like the rest of the chicks, he is happy and healthy.

well iv just zipped most of the shell left about 2 cm hoping that will be enough if nothing in a hour ish will zip the rest for the little chick . looks very dry from what i can see. the membrane dose not look stuck to it tho so fingers crossed he will be fine thank you for the advise :)

Guess what? I'm a mom!!

Went to check on the eggs at 6:00 this morning because I just couldn't stand it anymore, and there was a chick!!
She really must have been working hard, I went to bed with barely a pip last night, and now she's out!

)
But learned....
It's Alot of hard work & time consuming!...turn the eggs, adjusting humidity & temp with outside temps (glad I moved it in my office...much easier!)
Need a window to see humidity, temps & progress inside....Bator TV!!!
Gonna research how to maintain humidity without addin water every 1-2 hours!
And very Lil sleep durin Lock Down!!
lol.png

But in all....very Exciting & Rewarding Experience!!!

Girls, Girls & More GIRLS!!!

I use soaked sponges at lock down time- other than that I keep it dry in there.
No# 7 has arrived!!....it's 18 hours late

Chicks r soooo unpredictable!!!

That's 6 outta 8 from my girls for the 17th.....( 2 was from the refrig...wanted to experiment)
Now I know for sure, refrigerated eggs stop the fertilization once they hit 45 degrees r lower!!
Read bout it both ways....so I tested it myself!!

Yippee for #7! Don't underestimate the eggs from the fridge... many people have hatched store bought refrigerated eggs. But I hear it can be disappointing- but can be done!

I usually help if it looks like it needs it- but everyone is different.
Do what your gut tells you.

That's exactly what I have done.
Glad the one you helped is doing good- so are mine. :)
