WRVgirl
AWWWe Is theifrst the americauna the one like mine?Looks a lot like mine but i think THINK...mine has an all white chest.not sure yet. but think.
LO THAt is the other one i want BAD and cant seem to hatch oneTHIS time i will!!!!
Are yours shipped eggs?

They were shipped [they were also 5 days old]

The black one looks just like the lavender orphington, they both have white on the tips of their wings and chests.

WRV girl...HUMM Arent Americaunas supposed to have green legs?I thought i read that but maybe it was just EE's and maybe they come later.
SHes a cutey whatever she is!!!SHE even has feet like my BBS Orp, legs dark, toes light.HUMMM???.

*****HELP*****
My 1st hatchling (Lil Roo) is bein a BULLY & peckin the other hatchlings (3 girls) in the brooder box!! (1 hatchling is drying in the incubator still & safe for now)
Do I need to remove him to his "Own Private" Warmin Box??
Or is this normal??
Don't want him peckin none of their eyes out!!

If you see blood get him out of there immediately. Maybe you need a bigger box so they can get away from each other easier? I nice big paper towel box from the grocery store works great. They all peck/pick a little at each other, but if they are getting their eyes pecked at that is not good.
Do what you think you need to do for the greater good of all of them.

Congrats on the 5!! Yippee! Good luck on the rest:)

Lavender Orps babys I THINK from what i have seen in ads look like your Lavender all light grey...You may have a blue or black Orp though like mine and maybe they were splits and some are lavender and some blue or black
Can that be possible?
My little Midnight has white on his wing tips too.
but i am no expert by ANY means at all!!.My light Brahmas were all yellow and yet the babies i see on all ads are light grey and yellow but mine are LB's (see avatar)

OH GOOD CALICHICKS.hope shes ok .she is moving all over the bator and peeps loud when i come in the room The rest of the time shes quiet.
Wonder how i would get a thermometer in there and keep the humidity good Do you think i could drop a glass human thermomreter down the hole on a string and then bring it up and get a reading? She does seem better when i the temp goes down to 98.8.But she pretty much was panting when she would peep a while and it was 99.5 .its a digital thermometer/ hydrometer can they be wrong by a lot?
I hit the reset button afte rthe last hatch. Would that have helped?

Geez the amount iI DONT know is astounding

Where are my other peeps? So quiet in there but for the little angel...Isnt she cute?EEEEE thnk i'll call her Midnight b/c she came out about 12 -12;15 (It would work for a boy too but lets not think about that Im proud Mama (sorry mycamnera is old and sucks)

I couldn't believe the marathon my first chicks were doing in their bator!?! They were stumbling and fumbling all over the place and rolling eggs and generally making quite a crazy mess in there. I couldn't wait to get them out! As soon as she's dry get her out and in her nice warm brooder:) She's building her muscles- she's doing great!

I HAVE A CHICK! I will try and post pics in a few but it is soooo hard to see her on the screen! She matches the sawdust perfectly.

Ok baby will br in with other eggs due in2 days and 3. When is best to get her out.?Right now without a friend i thunk she would get coldbut the longer i wait the closer to hatch day for the other eggs.Tomorrow will be day 20 for another group.I am assuming they shrink wrap easier if they are pipped than not so Lay some knowledge on me?When should she come out?

I was bummed that my chicks rolled eggs that might have done better had they stayed still. She has hatched- she is fine. Get her out for the benefit of the remaining eggs, but it's all personal preference really-- do what your gut tells you to do. When did she hatch again? Has it been 8-12 hours? The brooder will be about 95 so it's better than the higher bator temp, if you're worried about that. Be sure to put a dish towel down instead of just newspaper for the first day or so-- it's cuddlier and helps their legs. Also she'll get water and food sooner in the brooder... gives her something to do instead of just fumbling around in the bator.
Good Luck! You'll do great:)

I hate to take her out when shes totally dry without a friend b/c the brooder is big like 3 ft by 2 ft.Big enough for 20 baby chicks.I am trying to see how heat goes in a small styrafoam brooder i made but never used as the temp got too high in it..Using a smaller bulb now. Will see.
