I checked my broody's eggs a couple minutes ago.. no action...

I'm going to give them a couple more days.

In other news though, it looks like my BO maybe going broody. So maybe a clutch of standards instead of crosses.

I dont have any idea what was wrong with my pretty gray baby.

It was fine and walking around, chirping when I went to bed. I know the temp was stable....I checked on it during the night and it never moved.

Stumble..OMG, that is the cutest thing!!!!

I have 3 eggs left, no pips yet.

I have 9/10 of my own mixed chick
5 brahmas X?
4 EE X?
I got 1 more of my eggs to hatch an EE but theres not even a pip. maybe later
none of the store boughts have piped yet but their 2 days behind the others

very cute silkie

holy man I'm still shaking, as I was typing the above there was this HUGE commotion going on with the chicks......... Thankfully I listened to my gut and went to checked.......... My newest EE managed to fall into the water. In my stupidness and lack of knowledge I had a low spot in the gard

this chick went over it and into the water below. after retreaving the chick I had to put the bulb back in, rewire the fan (which I could do with the bator closed) rearrange eggs and chicks fix my stupidity area all in about 3 min.

hopefully everyone will be ok. oh and I dropped the roll of electrical tape on one of the store bought eggs, it dented it a bit but doesn't look like it broke the membrane.

I don't know if #9 is gonna make it. It is one of the ones that I almost though out. It is very very very sticky.
With that said I have 2 that are sticky, is there anything I can do? Will it ever fluff up? Maybe this one should of fell into the water then it would be wet again and could get cleaned off.

Hows everyone else doing this afternoon?

Amy, dont worry about the sticky. You might try wiping it off with a warm wet cloth. I had 1 like that in last hatch. Wiping didnt get much of it to come off so I left it alone. It took quite a few days, but all the gunk finally came off.
I just didnt want to give a bath and have the baby get chilled.

Not much going on here. Got all the hatchlings moved out of the bator. Have 3 eggs not doing anything. Wonder why as they were all moving when I put them in lockdown.

Close call Raimnel. Glad you listened to your gut. Don't worry about the sticky one. I noticed stuff flaking off mine as they fluffed up and presume the sticky ones just have more of that on them.

You think?
Its all a bit confusing.

When they're all done I'll post individual pics and see if we can all figure out what they are...

I can't remember where I as at in my last post.
I have 6 in the brooder now, including 2 super cute cochins.
3 still crashing about in the bator.
Then 4 pips that are just sat there minding their own business.
And seven eggs that I can't see pips in, but who nows because they've been knocked into the corners.
And the 4 other eggs that I think were duds but put in just in case.

Since the mad rush at lunchtime nothing much has happened. The remaining pips aren't ones I can see in - they're just cracks.

Raimnel.........the stickiness will go away on it's own. Don't worry about it. How is your humidity? Did it drop suddenly? Mine did and I ended up having to help my last chick out. It was zipped all the way around, but then got stuck and couldn't get out. It too was sticky for a few days. It's fine now, and you can't even tell which one was sticky.
