I was doing dry as well but the humidity was high for some reason, so should I add water or just leave it till Day 18, which will be Sunday night....

I always said since I couldn't get a direct answer from someone that If mine ever dropped below 30%, I wouls sneak a few tablespoons of water in during candling. Since it has been warm and raining here. The humidity in my house right now is almost 70% so the humidity in my incubator is up to 55% with no water at all.

Ok, thanks artathart.....I guess I will put some water in tonight.....It is warmer outside today than it has been the whole time they have been incubator, so maybe that is why, gonna go check it again....The temp has gone up in it too.....

Yeah Me too. But I was prepaired. I knew my LG was going to spike today because today is the warmest day of the year at 80 degrees so when I went to sleep at 5 am I made sure my incubator was on the lowest possible temp. I normally keep it around 101.5 so last night I played with the temp till it was at 100 allowing room for a spike. When I woke up it was 102.4 Which is really 102.2 because when I calibrated my digital thremomter, It was .02 off. And It would have been that high for maybe a hour or so. Still a lot better then my 103.5 spike that lasted for 3-4 hours a couple days ago and so far, everyone is fine. From what I have been told, It really takes a while for the eggs to bother heat up and cool off so I doubt my eggs never acutally reached 102 today. I will be watching it like a hawk though.

What did yours go up to?

Only 100 so far today, has been hanging at 99 for like 5 days though, but same here with the weather, it is beautiful out, sun is shining, no rain, so I guess I should have known it was gonna go up....

Well I did my candling last night and had to pull 4 of my EE's and 1 still not sure of and also had some clears on my mottled cochins. So all I have left out of 20 is 12 but those are looking good with plenty of veins and movement. Good luck to everyone!

My humidity typically stays at 47%, sometimes spiking to 52% but I always catch it and bring it down to below 50 -

My question is, if I forget to add water, it dips low to 16% for about an hour or so - is it important to catch a dip that low?

I would say yes. I keep my humidity in the r-com at 43 to 45%. 16% would be to low in my opinion. Are you doing this in a hovabator or lg? I'd try some thin weather stripping around the lip of the lid if lg. I have one and that seems to help keep things a little more stable. The lg's don't fit too tight. I did some good hatches last year in mine and boy did I have to stay on top of things.

I am doing a dry incubation. As humid as it is in Maryland, I really dont need any water. When I first started my incubation I had about 35-40% up until the weather broke. Since its been raining and warm, Its around 50-55% every day with absolutely no water. Not much I can do about that. I would say anything below 25-30% to add water. but I'm no pro. All I know is over all humidity isnt as important until day 18 which is when I will had water. Looks like I wont need to ad much during lock down if I am already at 50% with no water at all. I may place a dry sponge in just in case then I can easily drop water down one of the vents with a straw. I put one of my plugs back in and my humidity is now 49% and temp is 101.3.

my temps have stayed between 99-100 consistently. No high spikes at all. pretty sure it has to do with the warm up we've had.

i got an lg and it's taped up something i learned from my first hatch...i'm glad for the temp stability...and the great warm weather, that's helped a lot..not sure why the humidity dips so low..these lg's are very temperamental, so i'm surprised the temp has held as it has...
