We certainly have become hatching buddies....I too am excited and nervous for all of us....I am 3 nights till lockdown, just can't believe it!!!

4 days until my first Lockdown:eek: I am down to 9 eggs. I had to toss one tonight that I had been holding onto for a few days in hopes of movement returning. It had dancing baby written on the side so the baby must have passed a few days ago. I figured I would leave it in for a few extra days in case I was missing something. When I cracked the egg open, It was clear it was stuck to the top of the shell and its heart was still on the outside of its body which means it died at 9 days or before. I still have one ? left. It to used to have lots of movement and for two nights now, nothing

So I have 8 beautiful bouncing babies and I had one dancing like crazy in its shell tonight:bun

I haven't been on here much, I became so dissapointed, I tried candling my eggs and every time I couldn't see anything, again and again, I couldn't see anything. So I just gave up. So last night I tried again. I still hade a few I couldn't see aything in, (Blue eggs), but in all the rest I saw baby chickies moving . Yahoo, come on baby chickies.

Mike I was fine till you said 4 days-- now I'm more nervous than I was-- I can't wait to see what I get, all are bantam cochins, but there is 1 silver lace, 2 gold lace,1 buff,3 birchen, 3 red. I 'm going to be checking chick pictures like crazy. If I get them through this that is.
kind off the subject but don't you find it odd that, after 10 days of incubation at around 100 that the scrambled or infertile eggs are not starting to cook or become smelly? mine appeared to be just normal eggs.
My incubator Marsh turnX7 , I chose this one because 1 it was small and with parrots you seldom get more that a few eggs at a time. And at that time, late 90's, the brinsee and other small incubators where just coming on the scene, and were not up to the quality they have now the temps. were way out of sync. the temps and humidty on this one I just set and forget (but I do check each time I turn them 5 times a day, I choose to turn them myself, I like to connection, I feel they are already in my care, and the caring starts before hatching.
I feel like Christmas is just around the corner and I'm a kid again

I know, it is truly amazing that we are doing this....Can't wait to see what my "chicken mutts" look like!!!!

The best part is when you see the chick, and knowing that the chick you're holding is the one you've been watching grow through candling for the last 18 days.
You also have more of a connection to the chicken even as they grow compared to ones you buy at tsc or another feed store. I can honestly say I only have two chickens that I feel are truly pets that want to see me as well that I bought from tsc. A dutch bantam (she even knows her name) and one of our latest chicks, a young dark brahma that out of the whole 9 is the only one that comes up to me and loves to be held and pet....though I keep telling her that that's going to be kind of hard when she's a full grow brahma hen lol but I feel closer, pet wise, to the ones I've hatched.

I know. I can hardly wait. 21 days never seemed so long until this great adventure. I love watching them dance in their shells. I show my husband.....He is never as impressed as I am. I think its amazing that because of me, These babies are going to hatch to be chicks. Theres a lot of weird power and love involved in creating life
