I know, it is truly amazing that we are doing this....Can't wait to see what my "chicken mutts" look like!!!!

The best part is when you see the chick, and knowing that the chick you're holding is the one you've been watching grow through candling for the last 18 days.
You also have more of a connection to the chicken even as they grow compared to ones you buy at tsc or another feed store. I can honestly say I only have two chickens that I feel are truly pets that want to see me as well that I bought from tsc. A dutch bantam (she even knows her name) and one of our latest chicks, a young dark brahma that out of the whole 9 is the only one that comes up to me and loves to be held and pet....though I keep telling her that that's going to be kind of hard when she's a full grow brahma hen lol but I feel closer, pet wise, to the ones I've hatched.

Lol sorry, decided to add more to that lol

We will definitely have to keep this thread going even after hatch with updates on how the chick/ chickens are doing even later on down the road. I've never posted this much on byc lol

I have my heart set on my cracked egg no matter if its a rooster or hen. I feel like I am bringing this little chick into the world. I even repaired its shell in a rush egg wax surgery and I have a real connection with this egg. I always egt excited to see movement inside even though I dropped and cracked it!!!

I agree.....Updates on all chicks with pics!!! I cant wait for hatching pics

Wow, I can't believe we are already talking hatching pics! It seems like only a couple days ago we were all talking about setting and how to see the beginnings of embryo development! Time flies!

Oh boy, Im late! I 'm new to byc and just found this thread! I'm trying my first ever hatch! I have 2 pet hens and a roo (other than the 6 silkie chicks I got 3 weeks ago) so I decided to try hatching a few of my own eggs. I set 6 eggs in the incubator on 3-30 at 4pm so I think im on the same time frame as you guys. So far I've lost 1 egg (blood ring) but all the others seem to be doing fine I think?. I've candled like every other day...I just can't help myself lol. It has been so amazing!!!I Gosh I hope I have some new little chicks soon..I will be absolutely crushed if I lose them now, Its so close:) I'm so nervous!!!!

I'm using a LG still air incubator and turning by hand. My chicks will be little mutts lol one of my hens is a buff orphington but the other hen and the rooster are mutts that I adopted from my aunt...the little hen i got from her has a crossed beak (she knew I'd love it) lol, so anyway I guess I have 5 mystery eggs!

Morning fellow hatchers

Just an update on my eggs...I started with 7 and still have 6, but after peeking at them, I am quite concerned....they are all still moving, but much less than they have been, and they almost look like they are "stuck" in the bottom (point end)...they are on a turner which should be doing the correct thing, right??? They will be day 16 tonight at 9:45pm....

I am so upset, anyone with answers please let me know, thanks!

I have been having eggs develop and move like crazy in their shells then for some reason they die and seem to get stuck to the fat end og the egg. Its happened to about 6-7 eggs so far. Not sure why its happening. It does suck.
