Oh I know. You are so right. I already spend most my time looking in the incubator. I think getting cheap eggs to play and hatch with in one incubator and really costly ones in my Brinsea, I can leave the ones in my Brinsea alone and play more with my cheap/test eggs. I know that sounds horrible, But I lost a lot of money on this hatch. Would like for it to not happen again. I am going on day 2 in my Brinsea and other than adding water, I have no desire to candle because I have the eggs in my Lg. If that makes any sense. I am going to video tape it as best I can. I am so excited.​

Well, here are my 2 new chicks I got today. The are 1 day old and are Silver Lakenvelders.....So sweet.....I needed to have something encase these eggs don't hatch and my daughter who is 2 years old is in LOVE with them already....

The fertile eating eggs would definitely work as good test eggs lol at least if they do hatch, even if they are mutts, they will still be an egg layer (there's always a use for even the most hideous hen lol). I hatched some eating eggs I won in an October chicken swap last year. One hatched and she looks like a light brahma cross of some kind lol. Love the look of a purebred, but her eggs will be just as delicious lol

Well so far things are going pretty good for my hatch. I have ten chicks hatched out of 122 so far with two more pipping. I have only four of my quail hatched out though and that is out of the. 19 that made it to lockdown. 3 quail popped but died. I have four alive so far and hoping more start to hatch but they were shipped eggs and you know how shipping them can interfere with hatch rates. I will try to get a pic on here soon.
