Anyone Setting Eggs Tonight 3/31/2011 - Come join me if you like!

Ok, I'm figuring that if by day 10 I don't see any movement or any veining - any signs of life - that it is safe to assume that nothing is going to happen with these eggs so it will be okay to just scrap the whole hatch of Ameracauna's, right?? (not the maran's since I can't see into them so I don't want to toss those yet)

I did candle tonight and same thing...in some of them it's a glob that moves easily whenever you move the egg.....in some I have a detached egg cell (the egg is clear and I can see a bubble freely moving back and forth when i move the egg) then, in some eggs there's nothing - egg is completely clear...

In some of the Ameracauna eggs, the yolk is no longer moving as freely, it's just sitting at one end of the egg, but then the other end of the egg is clear as a bell - two eggs are really porous.

Figure if I toss these i can just start fresh.

No tossing till at least 7-10 days. Its not sounding good. Wish you could post some pics. I have a egg with cracks and its developing so I wonder how that will go? I am so sorry about your eggs. Really I am. I seem to have only a few out of 26 as well so that sucks.

that's when i'm tossing...day 10 is this Sunday and that's when I'm tossing.

those are the breaks and unfortunately the chances you take on shipped eggs - for the eggs that aren't just completely infertile - I'm pretty sure no matter what the seller puts on the outside of the box, it's not going to stop the box from being bounced around...they have deliveries to do and need to do so quickly I guess, so no time to be gentle with packages marked fragile...just treat them like any other package...

It does suck but hopefully when I get my Brinsea I'll have better hatching with less worry...and no more shipped eggs for me...only local pick up

There are a fer local sellers who are selling mutts for $5.00 a dozen and I might get some of those next and see how I do. I really, really want to raise white and Splash Silkies and all color wyandottes!!!!

The true temp will be at the eggs and mine always runs at 99.5 and 50% humidity with the two wells filled. ok so i couldn't resist seeing what's inside those eggs that look like the yolk is moving slowly whichever way you move the egg so I broke one open and I'm figuring this is what all those eggs in which the entire contents are moving runny will look like this:

The circle you see is just clear egg white.

So far the count is 2 detached cells (floating bubble) and 11 moving globs....I was thinking a few were stationary but hubby says no, it's probably what I want to see

That's the end for my Ameracauna eggs - after day 10, this Sunday I'll only have the 5 Marans to see through to the 21st.

Now I'm really sad.

i cracked open 2 others after this one just to see and they're the same....i am really bummed right now...because that means all my Ameracauna's are gone
