I was just wondering, as it would be the cheapest option now that the USPS changed the prices (used to be under 1lb would ship for $4.95 ANYWHERE in the 48 states, now it goes up the further the distance, just like with packages over a pound). It would make it much easier to give everyone a fixed rate for eggs and shipping. Question is: is it riskier to ship in these boxes?

I got some quail eggs in that box. They arrived in perfect condition

Awesome! How many eggs were in the box and how were they packed? I was individually bubble wrapping my eggs, but it's so time consuming, plus I got rid of 90% of my stuff when I moved (including 99% of my critter stuff), so I no longer have my massive rolls of bubble wrap. I don't have the space or the money for bubble wrap of that quantity.

Wait, wait! The small Flat Rate box is the size of a video tape. Even one egg won't fit, unless scrambled!

Go to https://shop.usps.com/webapp/wcs/st...10000002&top_category=10000002&WT.ac=10000036 for Priority Mail box sizes.

The I suggest actually weighing the box, eggs and packaging. Go to the shipping calculator, find a zip code as far away as possible and calculate shipping to there.

Any questions, I'll be happy to try to help! I ship a lot.

That wasn't a small flat rate box, probably a regular or medium. As a general rule, flat rate is only worth using if the item(s) are really heavy but small. You can actually ship a bigger Priority box for less than the regular Flat Rate.

From www.usps.gov :

I AGREE, I FIND BETTER DEALS JUST USING PRIORITY MAIL AND PAYING FOR THE WEIGHT AS WELL AS A LARGER BOX ALLOWS BETTER PACKING/ PADDING

oooo ekkk!!! no no, not the video tape ones. The smallest "box" one. SORRY!!!!! I got carried away, thinking about the little eggs and little ones that pop out and act crazy running around. YES, i need to hatch more...

I've shipped eggs in a corn dog box before.

Just cover it with wrapping paper or something. You can use about anything, then it will be judged by weight

ETA: I also got them in a mail TUBE before. BELIEVE it or not

If you go to www.redoakgamebirds.com,they have the foam egg shippers that fit perfectly into the 12x12 priority shipping boxes. It depends on your packaging to,I did lose 1 shipment using these foam shippers and priority boxes, but you should've seen the box.I think somebody had a bad day and tried to kick a fieldgoal with my shipment.
