Anyone Show Chickens?

Do you know any of the rules/regulations in general for standards? I'm not sure the breed standards for my chickens but what are some examples of things that will get me disqualified? I know with dog shows, They should be a certain weight, size and have proper coloring for their breed. Any examples for a leghorn?
A side sprig on a comb is a disqualification, duck toe - this is where the back toe goes forward instead of back, split wing, wry tail, squirrel tail, black feather in a white bird are all disqualifications.

Local fairs tend not to be based on birds bred to the standard of perfection, though birds bred for the show circuit tend to do better at local fairs because they standout. Watch a few youtube videos and theyll explain how to get your birds show ready and condition them for being in show cages. Id contact your fair organizers and get an idea on how they judge the birds and ask if theyll have an APA licensed poultry judge, if not then hatchery birds will work fine 👍 just have fun is the main part 😊

Another great way to learn about your breed is to talk to other breeders that show the same bird as you. People who have spent a long time with one breed will have their own opinions on what that breed should look like, and will know best what to look for in quality show stock. It’s a great way to get insight on the breed you’ve chosen to work with. :)

Hi! I show bantam silkies, bantam Rhode island reds, and bantam wyandottes. No there is no dress code, that I know of. It depends on weight, if you are showing meat birds, then yes you do weigh them. But other classes, standard, bantam etc, do not have to be weighed. When I get ready for a show, I always wash my silkies, like a dog. When I get my normal feathered birds ready, i just put Vet Rx on their combs and wipe off any dirt and poop off with a baby wipe. After i wipe them, i then put show sheen on them, because it makes them shiny. Hope this helped.

Do you have any pictures of your show silkies? I'd love to see
