Bobwhite,

We've been through this before. While there may be some on here like patandchickens and hunterjumper that have the experience to train or give instruction for hunter/jumpers, they CANNOT DO SO OVER THE INTERNET.

Please, I know you're young and eager but you need to find someone local that can work with you. Is there a problem with your trainer? Do you need to find a new one? You can always use this forum for putting out feelers for a new trainer, but you really need someone to work with you and Toby or has a suitable lesson horse for you.

Best of luck to you

It doesn't hurt to ask, but people here do seem to get to a point where they think a person is trying to get someone else to 'do their homework' for them. There are a lot of videos and books you can read yourself, and you can take riding lessons. It's good to learn things by doing, to learn to be creative and think for yourself, etc. With a specific riding style, there just is only so much you can learn on the internet.

Even if you find an expert on that style on the internet...you really can't learn much from them over the internet. Each riding sport is really about expert, in person coaching, practice and developing fitness and strength in horse and rider. It's also about having the patience to develop up through the levels and to work hard each day over years. There are levels, of course, easy jumper classes at local shows don't require a million years of practice or a million dollar horse. As the saying goes, 'it goes up from there'.

You can learn more by going to the www.usef.org website and reading the rules for show jumpers in the US. You can go to www.fei.org to read about the international sport of show jumping. Your state probably has a hunter-jumper association. Look at www.showjumpinghalloffame.net, or try some show jumper barn's websites to see what type of horse does well in the jumpers. There are many speciality sites to learn from...but when it comes down to it...the best way to learn is to get a coach that specializes in that, and do it.
