Anyone try this? Update... they loved it!

I cut a cantalope in half tonight and thought to myself... wow this would make a great bowl for a some yogurt and crumbles in there for them.

I just don't know how great the outside of the cantalope is for them.

They won't eat the outside "skin" of the cantalope. They will eat the inside flesh all the way to the skin until it is paper thin though. They will also do this with watermelon.

I gave mine a cold cut up cantaloupe today since it was so hot out. They ate it all the way down to the skin/rind.

That is a great idea by the way, using it as a bowl also for the yogurt. I'm gonna try that too.

ooooooo, try putting some smaller fruits in there like strawberries and blueberries

or even something to sprinkle on the yogurt like bread crumbs or oatmeal. Man, I should be a gourmet chicken chef

If I liked Cantalope I know I would like it with yogurt and other berries in it! Man these babies are spoiled. I also gave the ones in the brooder a lovely bowl of yogurt and crumbles and they went nuts over it... but I'm not too thrilled to have to clean the bowl! LOL!

Never tried it for chickens. But i have had vanilla ice cream in half a cantaloupe.
