Anyone up for a Hatchalong?

Pics
I wouldn't x-ray it but that is just me. You can try the float test. You can also remove the egg from the incubator for 5 minutes. A nonviable egg will cool quicker than one with a chick in it. You can also do the "sounding" test with a metal rod. All those tests are documented online if you do a search. Good luck!

Just for chicks and giggles I wil join in on this now that my bird has given up his egg stash. The only difference is that I will let nature run it .I have 6 eggs at this moment he may accept a few more .I will update as required. He started setting today or last night probably brought on by the freeze last night.

and if your wondering about #1 & #2 they were collected on 1/20 and 1/23 and were not incubated .
#1 563G now 556G
#2 620G now 613G
These are just at room temp but too old to try to hatch now.

Well I went out to weigh the eggs this evening . I found him with 2 more eggs one is very light green color. the numbers I put on the eggs witth pencil have been scrubbed off. Little bugger fggured out how to get me to leave him alone. So no data sorry guys was hoping to give a natural data input.

IT could still hatch passed Day 51. My neighbor had some later than that and he had to help them out of the shell. Two had unhatched chicks that are doing fine now. One other one died a couple of days later. But he saved 2 out of 3.

The local woman that i got the last egg from was telling me about her emu hatch last year.. she said her male set the eggs (he had a total of 4 under him).. it took 60 days for them to hatch out.. and he got off the nest several times for 20 minutes to an hour every so often..

I'm not sure how normal that is.. but she said he hatched all 4

Well I hope your 2 eggs make it farmerChef, were they shipped? That's great you got 4 from a show & can try some eggs that shouldn't be damaged. If I order some more I'll go with Kalaya Estates.

Can this hatchalong include Rhea eggs? I talked to the breeder yesterday & I'm getting 4-9 rhea eggs once th:rolleyes:ey start laying, they said it should be early April, I'm so excited! I've always wanted to try them & now I actuallt get to...the best thing about them is I can actually candle them! I'm not sure how long they take to hatch, how much do chicks or adult rheas go for? I plan on keeping all that hatch, well IF they hatch lol!

Ok I rearranged the eggs in my bator to see if that helped the 2 eggs that weren't losing as much weight & C is still the same I think but E is doing better. It was starting to do a little better on its own, slowly though so I'm not sure if moving it helped or if it was already doing better anyway. Maybe it improved on its own & not because of the move since egg C is still the same...ok here's there weights:

Day 16
A-638.9 so 3.6g lost in 2 days
B-620.8 so 4g lost in 2 days
C-646.0 so 2.6g lost in 2 days
D-648.0 so 4.2g lost in 2 days
E-644.7 so 3.5g lost in 2 days

What ya think? :)

Ok I somehow forgot to ask this earlier but it's really important, it seems my bator temp is either 96 or 98...if you HAD to choose one or the other, would you go with 96 or 98? When my bator is set at 99 it gives my lower shelf a temp of 96 then when I bump it to 100, my top shelf is 98 & the lower one is 97.something. What would you do? Thanks! I'm afraid if 98 is too high I'm going to kill them before I have the chance to change it...

I forgot to post my temp readings last week so I posted both today. Last week is blue and today is red ---> like you couldn't see that LMAO!

Eggs 3 & 4 I cannot get to wiggle but the end cools on each egg but the other end remains hot. Could be from the drop in temp when I added the other eggs into the bator and they need a few days longer as the bator was at 96.7 - 97 for about a day or two each time. Any advice?
