Anyone up for a Hatchalong?

Pics
Irine, I'm like you & am so nervous about them suffocating in their shell...I've had so many chicks (chickens/ducks etc) die in their shell after internally pipping so I think when mine sound I'll drill a small hole in them so like you said, they'll for sure have enough oxygen.

Ive been having a hard time catching them wiggle again but about 20 minutes ago eggs A & B were wiggling all over the place! That was great because B I wasn't sure it moved a few days ago then A I had confused with C so wasn't sure which had moved...sooo in saying all that I'm certain I've seen A, B & E wiggle. I'm pretty confident (or hopeful) that C is alive but it is my problem egg & has lost a lot less weight then the others. Egg D is definitely a dud & it's right on track with weight loss...

Just out of curiosity I tapped on the eggs with a spoon, 4 of them had a thud (dun dun sound) like sound but D (the dud) had a "ping" sound, is that accurate?

I set my eggs on February 3rd...all you that set yours January 17-20, I soo enjoy watching your eggs progress & now hatch but what a tease lol!! Just make sure to post tons of pics so I won't go crazy waiting for March 24! :)

I am on day 49 but I am worried and can't help it. My friends had to wait until day 57 and suspected dead chick as the egg was not moving for 2 weeks prior to hatch. It hatched today, but I do not have such strong nerves to wait. I figuered if it doesn't hurt the chick I will drill the hole

Seems like my 3 eggs have sounded. Should I wait or should I drill a hole just in case?

that's entirely up to you.. just remember that if you do, it would be really easy for a drill to slip and cause some major damage to the chick.. so you would have to go slow and be careful

that's one of the main reasons why i would use a non motorized drill if I were going to drill into the eggs.. but like I said.. drilling a hole is entirely your decision since they are your eggs

Yay I got a pip! I took one of em out and held it up to my ear to listen, whistled a couple times, CRRRRAAACK. Right there in my hand.

Congrats!

K it's official, eggs A, B, C & E have all wiggled! I'm going to make myself blow egg D out tomorrow, I keep putting it off afraid that some how there's really a chick in there but there's not. After my husband & daughter smelled it I know for sure it's the stinker & actually syncs pretty bad lol, I just don't know what I'd do if I killed one of my emu chicks...

OMG you are all so lucky, im so sad sad sad, I dont know if I have there babys or what!!! no movement on these eggs, I set them on feb 23 2 of them and feb 24 the rest of 6 for a total of 8 eggs, no movements at all, im on day 44 and 45 and nothing, I tapped them and some sounded dung dung some ping ping just one ping, but no movement, no stinkers, gosh nothing, feel so desesperate, my temp is 97 steady and at nights drops for 95 sometimes, do not know what to expect. The other set of egg was set on feb 14 so they are on day 30 now, they have a steady 97 temp on a different incubator, higrometer at 37% with propper wheight loss since day 1.lets see, only a few days left

This Rocket my Rat Terrier all excited by the Emu eggs. He just loves to sit and watch baby chicks so he is going to be in for big surprise when he sees these guys..

Looks like Egg A went to sleep, it was poking at the bit of broken shell for awhile this morning then quieted down. Maybe it'll have a go at getting out when it wakes up.
I broke down and drilled a hole for Egg B this morning too, really is surprising how hard the shell is, even with that carbide end mill it took a couple minutes. It'd been 4 days since it sounded so it seemed like a good idea to give it some air.
